My information is that he may never come back. But my information is not that reliable, so who the heck knows. The fear is that his foot is a lot like Matthew Egans, and we all know what happened to him.

Heard anything on Clark Satyriconhome?

He walked up at training last Friday, still looked fit, ie no weight on him, said hello, was none committal when asked by somebody on the fence when he was due back, think they are being over cautious, last thing they want is the Egan situation, think that was a one off, he came back too quickly, lots of other players have made full recovery since....as for Viney, wanted to play last week.........probably Casey for him, hate to be a midfielder for Werribee next week...have asked Mitch Clark for a one word on his foot on Twitter, see if I get anything back

My initial read on Grimes is to definitely play him at Casey for one game, but Casey has a bye this week, so I would use Grimes as a sub bringing him on half way through the 3rd quarter if possible. We can't have him with no game time this week.

Blease looks like he might play - I hope he does.

We can't afford to bring back two under-done players.

It's risky enough having one in the side, sub or otherwise. If a player goes down five minutes in forcing us to activate the sub, we'll be at a major disadvantage straight away.

It's not ideal that Casey has a bye in the week we may be getting some players back, but we can't afford to be playing both Grimes and Viney if they're both not at 100%.

If any player goes down five minutes in, his team is unlikely to win anyway; so we're not really losing anything by playing two underdone players. Three underdone players means forcing one of them to play an entire game, but two underdone players is fine if you ask me.

Grimes in because he is a captain and if you're a captain you must be on the ground (see Trengove) whether you're fit or not. It's the Melbourne way, the way that saw Clark's career possibly ruined, and the same way we are likely to ruin other players by playing them under duress.

Taking time and care with important players isn't a luxury only strong lists can take advantage of- it's a responsibility that all clubs must take for the list's sake. We fail at this epically. We go on the mindset if the players appear OK, then play them. We do not err on the side of caution and we could very well pay dearly for this.

I just hope Clark will play again and I haven't been robbed of yet another dream; a Clark/Dawes/Watts/Howe forward line.

Spot on we ran out of legs last Saturday, putting two underdone players in against the Swans would make it even worse

Port bucked the trend on the weekend but I get what you are saying. I think one would be enough though, and even then I think it would be better for both players to come back through Casey. No change if Blease comes up ok.

I just wonder how big a mistake it was to let him come back BEFORE taking out the screw, there was no need to rush him as we weren't in contention for anything but they made that call to play him and sort it out later.

I swear the info on him keeps getting sketchier and sketchier, when he first went in to remove this screw he came out and they said 6-8 weeks everything went well. 6-8 weeks later and I haven't heard any improvement.

On topic, Grimes seemed pretty confident when being interviewed that he'd be back this week so who gets the chop for him? Kent? He's been solid for us this year but it couldn't hurt to give him a week off.

Blease and Viney are both down as "test", I see no reason to risk further injury with season were it's at.

Strauss apparently had a good game on the weekend and used his speed well. Although Blease plays as a forward this could be a chance to give Strauss or someone else a different role. Grimes comes in and for me this leaves one question, does Jones return to being a VC? I say just leave him as a co-captain, he's done a very good job in his time this year and whoever is the new coach I think will have a tough time justifying not at least making him a co-captain next year.

[EDIT] Forgot about Byrnes, he goes for Grimes instead of Kent.
