"I think I've asked the club for a record number of tickets for friends and family, so they've looked after me," he laughed.

Might be a bigger crowd there this week, need to recruit more guys with big family and lots of friends. Hope the guy has a blinder

"He takes the game on, runs with the ball and also looks for good options through the middle of the ground."

That quote stuck out for me as well. I'd read that Craig was focusing more on using the corridor at training.

Will be good for you guys to be able to watch players try and cut through the play, rather than try and chip their way around it.

Michael Evans

He should have held onto it and set a new #50 Guernsey Record by playing 18 games.

Doesn't take much to become a significant Demon these days.

Apparently his dad played a lot of footy with Neil Craig. Coincidence?

Looking forward to seeing him play. We really need some good ball users off half-back.

Trevor Clisby played with the Roosters but my memory of him is very vague as anyone watching North Adelaide watched Barrie Robran or The Jarman brothers

Wasnt sure if Trevor and Mitch were related

We have a few North Adelaide connections at Melbourne besides Clisby in Mark Jamar, Luke Tapscott and the departed Jared Rivers

Mitch Clisby follows in the footsteps of another West Broken Hill footballer George Lakes who had a much different pathway to the Demons.

He was a schoolboy champion sought by a number of clubs in Victoria and South Australia and was declared "the best footballer of his age in the country" by Jim Cardwell who signed him as a 17 year old centre man in 1967.

His clearance was held up for some time but he made his debut in mid 1968. However, he couldn't cement his place in the Melbourne senior team due to a combination of injury and form and was restricted to 49 games before he was cleared to South Melbourne. It was said that he simply didn't have the hunger to succeed at the elite level of the game. Perhaps he had too easy a road to the top.

As notademon's article states, Clisby, on the other hand has had to work hard to get where he will be at the weekend.

Good luck Mitch.

He could make it a 50% success rate that ain't bad

Welcome to the big time!

Rewarding good form rather than reputation is a good start for Neil.

Great catch Yarra. You had this one well before any of the news outlets got onto it.

Also congratulations to Mitch for a well earned promotion and best of luck in the game.

Just saw his Press Conference. Said "Tex" Walker (his good mate) was one of the first to call him with congratulations, and that he is flying over for the game.

Sure hope he succeeds. Apparently another of the guys who has had a long wait, having been overlooked in several drafts.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
