Milne charged

I hate to go short term and think about this week when everyone else is talking coaches but The Age is reporting that Stephen Milne has been charged with four counts of rape.

I have no interest in this except to say: do you think this will help our chances this week? New coach and all?

And be careful what you all say - innocent until proven and all that.

Big question is will he now play in the game or will he pull out? What message are the saints sending if the let him play but then again what message are they sending if they don't let him play.

It helps us if he doesn't play because he's still a dangerous player. But it doesn't help us enough I'd think.

St Kilda have precedent with this as they sacked Lovett after he was charged with rape. Tough position the Saints are in now, coming up a hapless team who's just sacked their coach, they're expected to win and anything less will be an embarrassment, and now this.

I'm just shocked this is back, especially after the footy show made light of it just a few weeks ago and he just spoke about the jibes hurting him and his family. Well it's definitely not going away now.

Good luck getting bail on 4 counts of rape

This is the wild west. He's been charged for an incident in 2004 he's not going to get arrested and locked up until the trial (if it even gets that far).

Lovett had history though and was there for all of 5 minutes before regardless of the result of the trial he certainly behaved badly.

Milne has been with the saints for over a decade, including all the time in which this incident took place, I don't see them abandoning him straight away. It certainly makes his chances of getting a contract next year look very slim though.

Latest news is that the AFL is relocating the St. Kilda v Melbourne game to the Melbourne Remand Centre recreation area to accomodate all players.

thats unfair

it gives them a home ground advantage

The majority of people would get bail for something that allegedly happened 9 years ago.

I think Milne can consider himself to be a very very luck guy.... He had internal vic pol help 9 years ago which resulted in him not being charged... If that had not occurred he would of been charged in 2004 and on the ex player scrap heap no later than 2005

He has been able to earn a very very good wage (well above the normal person) for the past eight years so should thank his lucky stars

Do you know how many violent crimes are committed by people who are on bail for other violent crimes? Our judges work off a checklist for this crap, the same as they do for sentencing. "Tie's to the community" check, "Family" check, fine, he can have bail.

Whether he plays or not, our 22 will be playing against 22 opponents.

Doesn't matter who they are- big question how will OUR guys respond to OUR events of the week? They have all worked with Craig for as long as they worked with Neeld. The response will certainly show something about the dynamics of our club, and the character of our players.

GO DEES!!!!!!

After what the Aints did to Lovett, it'd be a disgrace if he lines up the same week he is charged...

thats unfair

it gives them a home ground advantage

It's fair - the game was scheduled to be their home game this week regardless.

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention.
