he has stated he can't do it because of the location but not because he doesnt want to coach, this would have to be good news for us? it seems he will coach, just not anywhere in qld

Posted

Wow this has seriously backfired on Brisbane.. its going to make them look even more worse if they make the finals.

Wasn't the fact they sacked Voss would be the reason they thought Roos would coach them?

The perfect end to all of this would be if the Lions make the finals, Roos says yes to MFC and then brings Voss in as an assistant.

There is nothing to make transparent!

He said he is not interested in coaching next year.

Paul Roos, has told both clubs he is "definitively not interested"

And yet people in this thread will continue to think he may be coaching us next season

Correction... people HOPE he will. Yes, it's extremely unlikely, but is there any harm in holding out some hope?

still don't think we are ready for a million dollar coach

we need a coach that can sort out and build,

not a junior, not a top class ,just a grotty old builder until were ready for a big shot

We are in a better position to get him now, not saying we will, but if he wants to coach..... he will come to us.

I give us a 25% chance...

"the answer is no at this particular time"

the key to any of this is contextual to the "when" that when hasnt occurred yet.

Might still be the same answer......or it may not.

only when we get to the appropriate juncture we will know for sure

I hope that if Roos told PJ the same thing, that PJ makes that available publicly so we can all just move on.

I appreciate the transparency of the Lions.

I wouldn't be so appreciative and assume the transparency is so noble.

Angus Johnson is only making that announcement in an effort to save his own skin, as a rival ticket is challenging his place on the board based on the premise that he is not fit to lure Roos as coach.

I would think it would be difficult for any coach to take us on not knowing what will happen with the drugs investigation. PJ will need to talk someone in to taking us on even though that allegation/investigation is hanging over our club.

so does one draw the conclusion he hasnt ?

If Paul Roos was coach next year I would send the MFC my pocket money but we all know thats not going to happen.

Instead we will get a washed out coach like Eade, Craig or Williams and I will tell myself that they bring us hope but will most likely be experiencing deja vu again in 3 years time.

Yes it will be great to get a coach with experience but why are the only possible coaches the ex-coaches?

The AFL coaching system is a joke - you fire one coach and replace them with another fired coach.

Having finished my rant

The only experienced coaches are the ex-coaches? You are surprised at that?

Meaning not in the near future (next year).

He does not want to rule himself out of coaching in 3 to 5 years time.

my perfect end wants Voss to Eagles, & Woosha to Lions... but my gut feels PR enterprises likes the Sun & the Surf at the doorstep.

do we by chance, have a Flinders or RedHill, or maybe an OceanGrove property available? with a 3BR TownHouse in Melbourne town?

I sense the Eagles situation has the key to this door.

may mean nothing of the sort YD...he may simply be waxing lyrical with words

One of the most impressive things about our new management structure has been the lack of leaks around key processes such as the Head Coach appointment.

Best draft pick of 2013 = Peter Jackson

So I thought we better just make something up!

I have framed a market for the heck of it

Eade 2 / 1

Craig 4 / 1

Roos 6 / 1

Williams 8 / 1

Voss 12 / 1

Harvey 15 / 1

Worsfold 30 / 1

Ratten 50 / 1

Rest name a price.......

My preference would be Neil Craig with some strong assistant coaches who could transition into the role in a couple of years such as a Lingy, Leppitch, Simpson

Whats the odds for getting Mark Neeld back?

True - you can see it that way if you want.

I just don' see Paul Roos as that kind of bloke.

Whats the point of "waxing lyrical"? why would he do that?

I'm certain Roos will coach AFL somewhere, next season... & I'd say that the decision is already made.... the timing has to arrive I believe, so if it involves Woosha, we may know by week 2 of the finals,,, if its not known by then, then I reckon it'll involve a 3 way merry-go-round.

By doing so he neither shuts doors to where he wants to go nor necessarily negates enquiries.

what do we actually KNOW ? Only he WONT be in Brisbane, thats it. Nothing else is known by us though it might be by concerned parties. He hasnt trodden on any toes nnor disrepected anyone.

All things aside hes trod a very narrow cliff exceptionally well.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
