That might be good, but it won't help their spelling or grammar...

does it help with the ADD, we could all do with it then. & who's counting anyway. I lost count years ago.:cool:

that's alright rpfc, i make allowances for you, seeing as you never had the benefit of a private school education

You mean a Public school education, don't you? In the Harrovian sense....

No it wasn't "dumb luck" as you call it.. His Father was up in Sydney the previous March, before the season proper started, actually negotiating certain terms and conditions with GWS.. That was published just after he left MFC...

Exactly.

If that had've been published prior to Scully leaving, it might have been a valid cause to believe he was going, but even then, not in all certainty.

He could've been there to have a pitch made to him, but still far from decided.

This is my point - no one knew with any certainty, so those patting themselves on the back are doing so based on a largely uneducated punt.

Some supporters have instinct, intuition, astuteness, knowing the way the wind blows, reading tea leaves, reading between the lines, filter out irrelevant information and sniff out the truth etc, etc to develop a sound educated opinion. Others like E25, Artie, Jose, Keyser, Jens etc, etc would call this dumb luck because they dont know anything else other than dumbness. Edited by america de cali

It was in a sense dumb luck.

His extremely high offer wasn't initially on the table and was increased significantly at the last moment.

A combination of the AFL not wanting GWS to look bad considering the majority of players rejected their offers (such as Thomas ect.) and they wanted to get a more high profile player compared to Ward + an extremely high salary cap which was only partially filled due to GWS having 15+ under 18 year old players on the minimum wage hence his $2m in the first year, and a reduced amount after.

Before the last minute increase the only person who would have known if he was going to go was him. We were just all speculating and the amount of private variables (such as his father getting a job at GWS) does make the result dumb luck.

not really frankie, the origins of the terms "public", "grammar", "private", "church", "state" etc bear little resemblance to today's reality

those who wish to stick to the historical notion of "public" school are dinosaurs (or anglophiles)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
