I know he didn't have a full pre season (I was being sarcastic :P )

Who makes the calls on whether a player plays under duress? If it's the players they can't be trusted- they go out underdone because they are fighters but what does that do to the good of the team down the track? Strong clubs put players on the sidelines if they aren't fully fit no matter how important they are to team structure. It's just another little thing we need to fix to become a professional outfit- which I think with PJ and AFL help we are well on our way to being. Finally.

Roos could be waiting on the AFL to tick off a priority pick before he commits, there is little doubt that he would expect a priority pick.

I don't see why this would be the case - pretty sure the Swans never or rarely had a top 10 pick under Roos and his coaching style is about building the culture and systems for players to prosper rather than relying on early draft picks.

Roos will need an incentive to come back into coaching and he will not want to fail.

If you were Paul Roos, would you ask for a priority pick, knowing that it will give you more of a chance to succeed?

If you listen to Roos on the couch, he made a case for us receiving a priority when IMO, in the past he would've bagged out the suggestion of us receiving such a pick.

Port just beat Collingwood.

There is a MASSIVE difference between the Malthouse production line VS Roos/Bomber production line.

Make no mistake, we will improve ten fold with Paul Roos as a coach.

I've been saying this all year, coaches from the Geelong or Sydney production line are worth their weight in gold.

Just look at Ken Hinkley going about his business, Port were a rabble last year and arguably worse than us.

yesterday would not have hurt Roos chances of taking on the MFC job

Hogan looking like the next Carey, 4 hours later the Demons dominate the Dogs for 3 quarters and get a victory

Ideally for me Roos would be the coach and Neil Craig would become the head of player development

Todd Viney should become our main recruiter, he nailed last years draft big time

I hope he doesn't. In fact, I'm certain he won't. But, like you, I'd like him to stay and support the next coach.

Looking like Voss will get a 2 year deal with the Lions

So thats one less team that will need a new coach

... IF true, its another slap in the face for the likes of eade & williams. do you reckon they wouldn't have hired a 'Roos', if they were available to the Lions?

so the Lions must rate Voss, either level with eade & williams, or above them...

I am currently reading the book written by Roos and his wife Tammi " Life is Sport, Sport is Life".

From what I have read, we can all rest assured that money won't be the main factor and if his wife is against it, end of story. Not only is Roos working in the media and for the Swans, he is also a very sought after motivational speaker.

He doesn't need the money. He will do it if he is motivated and his family is happy about it.

As a side note, if the book is accurate, he is a very decent person and his family have very good values.

PS. Tanking would have been totally repugnant to him.

You are talking about the same bloke that tanked a NAB cup game (possibly more than one - but one where he was caught on camera)

I don't think repugnant is the word you are looking for...

Beauty, Lions signing themselves to the doldrums for another two years on the back of one good win

Roos is out of the race according to Gerard Healy on 3AW tonight.

He was asking Dees Supporters if they had a choice between Craig,Williams and Eade, who would you choose?

Best available.

If Williams can turn Dustan around, he can turn Melbourne 176 degrees... Not quite a 180!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
