Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Some signs for next year today.

Get Mitch Clark back and throw Hogan in even just for a supporting role with the likes of Kent and Howe and we will have a forward line. Apart from some horrible goal kicking/last kicks into the forwardline we really should've put up some kind of score from limited forward 50's. Jamar showed some more spirit. We know our key defenders can play and we also know that Terlich can play even though he had a tough day at the office today. Strauss was poor defensively, he's not used to playing on guys like Puopolo who are all intensity. But he found the ball early and wasn't afraid to use it well. He's the type of player you have to continue with and coach. He's undoubtedly got more athletic ability and skill than Cheney who's getting a game for the top team in the comp and Duryea.

But once again between the arcs is just a massive issue. Not only does Jones look like the only guy capable of winning a clearance but on the wings Matt Jones and Evans got torched today. Evans battled on and they rightly subbed Matt Jones. McKenzie I'd persist with because he restricted Hodge early and Burgoyne late and started to work out how to play to his limitations as the game went on. Trengove though is a huge concern. Rodan I'd stop the in one week out the next despite his horrible first half I'd play him now. But really it's Viney, Toumpas and the draft/free agency that's our only hope with this midfield.

If ANY of our players were suddenly put into the Geelong team, I am sure their skills etc would be AFL standard. No we don't need a total change in players, we just need a coach and support staff who know what they are doing!

Kent really showed a bit and has a lot of kent in him, with Taggert, Blease, Viney, Toumpas and Hogan to come in plus a bit of Clark experience a couple of early picks in the draft, maybe a good free agent mid and we could be ok.

Dawes showed a bit, I was not convinced but if he keeps working like that he will be a real bonus. Plus a lot of his marks stuck today, the pies are actually missing him at the moment.

Jack is looking real shaky! If everybody was totally honest he does not deserve his place in the team. That's where it's at!

I felt they exploited his lack of pace today big time

Liked Evans game. It's our 5 - 7 fringe players that are no good.

He came into it but he was getting torched early and not finding the ball to get it our way. He's certainly not the cause of our problems but the fact he's assumed the role of one our better and more physically adept midfielders sums up where we are at.

Potential coaches watching from the outside, surely we will get some quality candidates.

We have massive scope for improvement in our list.

*Jones is a quality midfielder, he is elite, just needs a supporting cast.

*Dawes has shown over the past couple of weeks that he is a leader and more than capable of being a dominate forward.

* Mitch Clark is in the stands and is one of the best forwards in that competition, hasn't played a game with Dawes as yet.

* Jack Viney has shown that he is the future, currently in the stands, screams elite and will benefit going around this year, be twice as good next year, one would think.

* Jesse Hogan, on face value is a Wayne Carey clone, at worst Michael Hurley, will add to the side straight away next year.

* Jack Watts, flat track bully in the juniors will only get better as he gets older - as flat track bullies like him and Tom Hawkins do, Watts will be some player in the future.

* Dean Kent and Jeremy Howe will only get better, they are freakish players.

I could go on, but the gist of it is, we have scope to improve, all the above, along with improvement in decent young players on our list, we are aren't a basket case.

We have a great backline, decent forward line - at least we will when Clarks back... We have no midfield, if a new coach comes in and brings an elite midfielder.

We will see rapid results.

If you added Sylvia, Ablett's Snr and Jnr, Judd, Jobe Watson, Lewis Jetta and Peter Matera, I reckon we could've won today.

Jones, Dawes, Garland and Frawley can all hold their heads up.

Howe was good again.

Kent is promising.

Beyond that, a bunch of triers and hasbeens.

It's just so painful.

Dawes, Clark, Howe, Hogan forward.

Frawley, Garland, Tom Mac back.

Watts versatile.

We have the bones. We really do. If we can get 2 class midfield in and under types and keep Sylvia we would see a massive improvement next year.

Terlich, Kent and Matt Jones gave showed they could develop. Evans the same.

Concerned about those in the system 3-4 years - Strauss, Bail, Trengove, Tapscott, Blease etc. Just not seeing much future for them.

They clearly try BUT...

Tackling efficiency was still ordinary

Skills and decision making are pathetic

We stand flat footed with zero spread

We refuse to take the game on

Honestly, I don't think I've ever been more encouraged by a 95 point loss. We matched them for periods, but they kept it up constantly and whenever we slipped off them they scored in bursts. Had our usual problems getting good forward 50 entries which translates as a low score, but you would expect a loss of that magnitude to be far worse than it actually was in terms of the play.

Of note:

Dawes really stepped up. He worked hard and gave us that vital link between HF and wing. 21 disposals and 12 marks is a huge effort.

Nathan Jones continues to be the man carrying our midfield. 28 Disposals, 16 contested and 11 clearances. So good they used Sam Mitchell to tag him in the last quarter.

Col Garland and James Frawley can both take a bow. They were awesome on the best forward tag-team in the competition. Not only did they hold the twin towers, but they got involved the other way as well.

Dean Kent showed a bit today. He is going to do very well for us in the next decade. Love his confidence to step around some of the stars of the game and take them on. This is his third game people.

I wish Fitzy hadn't looked so nervous. Had a chance to take a few telling marks and fumbled them. Could have had a few goals if his hands had been better, but he did enough to keep for another week.

David Rodan had his best game in our colours and probably his best in a few years. Burnt his teammates a couple of times, but he was heavily involved and had an impact.

Quite seriously.

Okay so I've had a couple at the local whilst watching the game but I'm trying to remain positive. Firstly, this may be the thrashing that needed to be had. Board meeting Monday, maybe some changes to follow.

I actually think we have some decent players emerging. I am liking Terlich, Evans, M.Jones, Fitzpatrick and others. Some good boys at Casey also! Howie is a very impressive player.N. Jones, make up your own mind and I would be devastated if we lost Watts. I'm a big Watts fan under the correct environment.

I would think a propective experienced coach from the outside looking in would find the melbourne coaching gig reasonably attractive. The big concern for a prospective coach would be the administration.

Unfortunately for Mark Neeld it just isn't working or likely to ever work. He needs to be cut loose and at least he won't be financially disadvantaged. He had a crack, stood by his principles/visions and was his own man. Credit to you Mark!

I believe the MFC need to act quickly and make some important decisions for the future in a very short space of time! My opinion.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
