Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

From what Paul Satterley said on the live chat, expect Watts to alternate between the wing and up forward, which i think is ideal for him at the moment.

No he wont, it will be down to the backline with him to "stem the tide" 10 minutes into the first qtr.

Magner out, that's right he's got a cale Morton body!

Oh dear....... It not like we need another big body in the mid field.

Geez

Ok, I admit I've been on the fence with the Neeld must go rants, but I think the Magner axing has pushed me over the edge.

I have one question for anyone willing to support Neeld, who has come into the side to replace Magner?

For the life of me I cannot understand the selections week in and week out. Neeld keeps saying no-one will be gifted a game, but then players in horrible form hold their place, some young players trying to get their heads into AFL footy get one week here, two games there, while others are stuck in the VFL. Players brought into the team for their mature bodies are now dropped against one of the biggest bodied teams - the Hawks.

Gawn out, Jamar holds his place.

Fitzy has had great form for 5 weeks, Spencer hasn't - both available the same week.

Straus, Jetta, Nicho are in and out like a honeymoon d..k.

Pederson gets another game - on what grounds?

Rodan gets another go

Blease is on the outer and never mentioned in dispatches.

I have had a gutful of a selection roundabout that has no rhyme or reason.

3,4, 7 changes each week

Is there no-one at our club who can take hold of this wreck and bring some strength and structure to what is going on? PLease!!!!

None left I reckon.

Magner out is ridiculous.

Neeld is delusional. Just delusional. Moronic. Idiotic. Absolutely lost it.

Go....just go.... (and take Craig with you....)

We shouldn't have knifed Mcdonald.

Contrary to popular opinion, we didn't. He knew at the start of the season that he wouldn't be offered a new contract. That never changed. He felt that his form warranted one anyway, and was told that this was not the case. Was it a bad move? Absolutely. Was he knifed in the back? Hell no.

Gawn needs a rest and a run at Casey where he can implement what he has learnt at AFL. It has been apparent that he has struggled that last two weeks, but I expect him to be back up soon.

Fitz and Spencer are different players, both have been in great form this year, Spencer came into the AFL side and was subsequently dropped based on performance. Fizz will come in for gawn, play forward and pinch hit in the ruck. Hamas holds his place because he is a better ruck and stronger even though he does donuts around the ground.

Pederson had been BOG for Casey for the last two weeks thus he comes in.

Rodan comes in four the injured Byrnes.

I am surprised by the Magner omission. One thing I have noticed is that, subs aside, he has played our lowest game time (near 70%) for the last two weeks. That suggests to me his fitness and tank needs work to bring to AFL level. Maybe explains his dropping to Casey.

I'm happy with Strauss in as it will release watts to play forward/wing.

Blease hasn't performed in the vfl and was concussed before half time last week.

Does that answer most of you're questions?

Magner has been combative as we'd expect, but against this week's opponent we've just been looking for a little bit more leg speed through the middle.

Answer form Paul Slattery

But Slattery.....he gets the ball, he tackles....wtf. Leg speed is irrelevant if you don't get the ball, or don't tackle.

Unbelievable. Its like they've got a whiteboard full of competitive players...this one in, this one out.

Let me tell you you DON'T. Omitting one of the few competitive....FFS.

Delusional, the lot of them.

Gawn out, Jamar holds his place. Jamar >>> Spencer and Gawn isn't ready and hasn't shown the form to hold down first ruck, it's that simple. Time in the VFL is sensible for Gawn

Fitzy has had great form for 5 weeks, Spencer hasn't - both available the same week. Fitzy will play, Spencer has played reasonable VFL footy and before that was in the AFL, who cares if he's an emergency

Straus, Jetta, Nicho are in and out like a honeymoon d..k. Nicho has had a good run, Strauss I agree never should've been dropped, Jetta should never have come back into the team but his suspension was his fault

Pederson gets another game - on what grounds? Top 3 players two weeks in a row at Casey has pushed him past Sellar

Rodan gets another go Keeps playing well in the VFL and we have the worst midfield in the league, why not try him again

Blease is on the outer and never mentioned in dispatches. Knocked out in first half at Casey, might not even play VFL, regardless he keeps playing selfish and undisciplined footy. Time to realise Blease isn't anything special

I have had a gutful of a selection roundabout that has no rhyme or reason.

3,4, 7 changes each week : They keep losing badly why not shuffle under performing players

Is there no-one at our club who can take hold of this wreck and bring some strength and structure to what is going on? PLease!!!! We have a pretty simple AFL structure, Dawes at CHF, 2 big defenders, a ruck forward, midfielders as much as possible but we don't have the cattle. Strength is a mess but one week of selection could never solve anything

Said it before won't bother again. Selection is Neeld's pathetic attempt to save his arse.

I'm confused. If we keep losing then Neeld is a crap coach who has to go, but if he makes changes after a terrible performance it's not him trying to get a better result, but rather a pathetic "attempt to save his arse"? I thought we wanted the team to win. Isn't that the whole point of the multitude of threads attacking the coach? What will you call it if we start winning games? I sneaky attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the media and board?

They use how for that now. He's better in the air and works harder than Watts.

I disagree. Blease is a long way off being what he should be, but he does have magic. When was the last time we saw five goals from a mid/small forward? The kid can seriously play when he's on, but like so many over the years, needs to learn how to turn it on at will rather than just whenever it happens.

Watts & MacDonald set to play forward, both trained with forwards today. Yes MacDonald as a forward!

Mac Donald used to be a forward

I'm as big a fan of Jetta as anyone, but how anyone can say he doesn't deserve to be dropped is a bit beyond me. Let him find his mojo again back at Casey.

Wasn't he plonked in the forward line last week? It's little wonder he couldn't get his hands on it. When he's been played behind the ball, he's been good, sometimes very good. This approach of throwing magnets on a whiteboard in the name of player development is just confusing.

Jetta is debatable maybe, but Magner?

I wonder if Davey and Jetta will play given the horrible comments by eddie and that horrible horrible 13 year old, perhaps the boys will be too shattered to play....Am I allowed to say that?

Dear Mark Neeld,

Each week I question you a little more.

This week you've managed to somehow drop Gawn, who is a glimmer of hope in the dark hole you've created.

This week, I officially declare you delusional.

Also James Magner sends his love.

Regards,

Jaded.

I thought Gawn going was a fairly obvious move - he has struggled for the last few weeks and Fitzy has been white hot in the VFL. Not sure what to make of the Magner change though.

Jaded. Gawn started well, but hasnt set the world on fire in recent weeks. Where Fitzy has played solid games and accumlated 5 goals last week. So I think its justified. This wont be the last of Gawn.

But Magner does surprise me.

1st goal: Decent running to get out the back of a zone, really set up by players up the field

2nd goal: Very good crumbing goal

3rd goal: Very poor defending by Saints lets Blease snap a goal on his left set up by Trengove going 3rd man up

4th goal: Runs hard gets to the front of the contest keeps running and nails a goal Score 101 to 46

5th goal: Simple lead to 50 out gets a cheap 50m penalty, score 101 to 58

So in reality one good crumbing goal (the second one) and some other efforts but 2 very junk time goals (it was round 20 ffs)!

Even when he's on he has the following traits:

Selfish - Often tries to do it all instead of using first option

Lazy - Doesn't do defensive running

Poor kick - Often sends the ball sailing over a leading players head

Can't win contested ball - Isn't a hard at it player

Doesn't win enough outside ball as he lacks work rate

Not a natural crumbing forward

No doubt he has a high ceiling. You say what's the best Sam Blease can be and the answer is probably Steven Motlop level but his current output is just miles off.

Lets have a look at Blease's traits:

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
