Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Would love to top up with a GWS midfielder and forward this trade period. Even if we give up picks 2 and 3 (still think Brisbane will take the spoon).

From what I heard this trade progressed further than most of us realised, and

Dylan Shiel was quite open to the idea of coming to Melbourne last year under Roos. Not sure how credible this rumour was but it was via people who claimed to be close to him.

I reckon if he goes anywhere it is likely to be one of Hawthorn, Adelaide or Carlton.

I always felt that if he went anywhere it would be Hawthorn but still not convinced he will go, I have heard Adelaide have offered him a large amount of coin but not sure he would head there.

I am now leaning more towards him being offered a very large amount of money by the Blues. We all know they are worse than we are for the messiah complex and have had it for over 50 years. Malthouse loves teams built on strong defence and IMO he will plan his team building around Frawley & Jameson in the back line and look at recruiting a young forward either by way of the draft or a trade. Henderson will play as a forward with Waite for another year before they look towards the new forward to step up

Can't see Frawley leaving Melbourne (the city). If he goes, it'd be to one of the 'big' Melbourne clubs. I don't need to reiterate what I think he will do though.

i hope you right and he stays... But the fact is, Roos is grooming the back line without him... Frawley seems an honest bloke, so id say that the club would know if he is going...

He will be a massive loss.. It means we will have lost our number 1 key back and our number 1 key forward by years end... Jeez... We can't keep sustaining these type of loses... Something's got to give...

Is Roos really grooming the backline without him or is he seriously re-inventing him as a forward [due to the loss of Clark and the current absence of Hogan]? Personally, I am more inclined to think that this may be the case given Dunn and Pedersen's improvement, Garland's imminent return (plus Georgiou's promotion onto the Senior list).

Certainly, if we lose him, it'll be a massive blow.

hmm that is a funny scenario.

maybe the club knows he is leaving,

so instead of dropping him,

we play him as a swing man, demonstrate his versatility, show how fantastic he is.

this tactic will attract little media attention to frawley leaving via free agency,

we play better footy and develop a back line that is not dependant on frawley

frawley attracts higher salary from other clubs due to versatility and great performances

while we get the best possible compensation for frawley and still improve as a club, in turn making the club a brighter prospect to other free agents and tradable players.

probably should've posted that in the frawley thread, but following the trend of this thread it seemed appropriate.

If Frawley leaves, I'd welcome Shiel with open arms.

Last year Shiel looked like a player bordering on elite.

He'd be a great pick up, another leftie and a bit of pace.

I'd gladly give up our first rounder, I don't think GWS would do it.

They are going to need clean ball users to deliver forward, Scully, Ward and Palmer aren't great ball users.

James Frawley will be a one club player like his uncle

Hes going nowhere

Keep dreaming HH.

He is gone.

Will be good for the club and himself. Not a big loss in my eyes.

Our midfield is monumentally more important than Frawley's output as an individual and with him gone we will get great compensation and therefore have great bargaining power to land someone who will contribute more to turning this club around than Frawley.

Frawley is likely to go the Cats. They will have some retirements and $$ available. Chip is a country boy at heart.

just having a look back thru this thread

I reckon the Cats are showing signs of getting stale & tired, & look like they need some more younger blood brought up into the seniors. reckon they're starting to look more pedestrian.

If I were Chipper, I'd not go to Catland. I'd look to the Suns or Hawks, if for success in the next 3 years.... otherwise stay a one-club player with us, & work to reach the top 6, this side of 2018.

Freo will lose Sandilands and Pavlich after next year.

If they don't retire, it's unlikely they'll be as effective.

That leaves cap space, but it also leaves a gaping hole in the side.

Nat Fyfe will be under far more pressure and he'll be earning every cent.

If I was Fyfe, I'd be in negotiations with MFC, he'd have a far better chance of winning a flag 2015 onwards.

On an open market I think Fyfe would command 800k easily.

Collingwood would be out of the picture.. Most likely of the Vic sides - Geelong, Carlton, Essendon, Richmond and Melbourne.

On Dylan Shiel, hopefully he doesn't hit his straps before years end, he'd be a great fit.

Hopefully Dommy T is in his ear.

With Sandilands possibly retiring and Gawn on the rise here, maybe we can trade involving Fyfe for Pencil and an astute draft pick trade? After all, we also have Fitzpatrick and King in reserve here and will have less immediate need for a ready-to-go ruckman that Freo.

As for Sheil, and the main topic of this post, if we can replicate the Tyson trade at year's end [with a much wiser GWS] then our recruiting division will be absolute heroes!.

Chase Fyfe and Patton hard,

Hopefully hang onto chip

Try and get Rosa and mckay as free agents as we need that run and class

Stuff Mckay, he already turned us down on a big money offer.

I think the Hawks are possibly in a worse position than the Cats (past this year), they've got this year to get it done or they drop back. Too many over 30's now and they need to regenerate the list.

As Nathan Buckley can tell Chip, it's sometimes hard to pick winners.

Frawley for Fyfe, straight swap

Roosy and Rossy, get it done fellas

Free agent 'hogan', there is nothing to get done.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
