5 Years Says Neeld - Who is going to cop that?

Mongrel Dee

Recommended Posts

Seriously, if he actually said that it is surely a suicide note, or at best an early resignation speech.

He cannot want to retain his job if he comes out with that, now.

Neeld's team selection and public statements are aimed at one thing. Protecting his job. If he is here in 5 years time (next season?) I will load an alpaca up with testosterone and have it gore me to death.

Do alpacas actually have horn? Maybe you should first transpose some unused (haven't been see in action for half a decade or more) Demon horns onto him first. And let me know where and when this event is to take place: I may come and watch, or even let him at me after he has finished with you.

If Neeld hasn't been sacked in five years the club won't be around for it to matter.

If Neeld is still at the club in 2014, just watch membership fall thru the floor. It's that simple and plenty of Melbourne heavyweights are getting the business done behind the scenes to find a new coach.

Neeld is done and dusted and the players better get used to it.

how can i put it any more clearly

This guy is delusional, seriously f'd inb the head. The guys in white coats would be coming should Kew only still be operating

why this position ?

Its where he puts benchmarks and how he arrives at them. He thinks today was OK..deep down he does Im sure..

Mitch Clark now knows he has a looney as a boss, poor bastard !!

I really thought we had a decent thinker at the helm, I now realise he is batty.

Mark, listen and listen good . There is NOTHING good in a 34 point loss. it means we LOST.

Guess why..you sewed these seeds before the game. Its ok guys I dont expect you to win , nor be really competitive, not for 5 years. Im sorry this is only the thinking of an idiot.

Its all well and good to realise things take time but dont run that up the flagpole.

Neeld just lost me!!

Peter Jackson last week said the "first priority was to fix the on field first " - ie to give the supporters hope.

Clubs not winning survive on hope/getting better.

Then Neeld come out and say 3-5 years - It might be true, but now is not the time to say it.

Talk about this week, or this year - Anything other than what he said.

Not very bright.

Watch the press conference with Neeld and Dawes: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2013-05-19/mark-neeld-and-chris-dawes-postmatch-media-conference

At about the 1:10 mark Neeld is going on about peaks and troughs and Dawes cuts him off and states that effort at AFL level shouldn't need to be coached. Basically, Dawes is stating clearly and bluntly what is and isn't acceptable while Neeld is making excuses. Worth a watch!

Dawes spoke really well, wonder of he could be a player/coach, thought he might have been helping neeld out rather than having a dig at him

He wasn't having a dig (intentionally), it was just the contrast between what they were saying. Notice Dawes isn't saying "we will win more games", simply stating what is and isn't acceptable instead of making excuses, that's the attitude I want to hear.

Agreed, you can see that dawes is a bit frustrated at neeld speak and wants to cut to the chase

When the more intelligent players start to realise they arent reading from the same page as the coach...something will need to give..

Dumb statement, just dumb. True? Maybe. What a coach has to sell is hope, to supporters and players. Neeld does not do it (at least publicly).

3 to 5 years after he's had 1 and a half is [censored].

Maybe, just maybe he is saying "This is the way it is. Sack me if you don't like it." No problem - sack him now.

Clarks comments are interesting:

When asked on radio station 3AW whether it was a shock to the players to hear Neeld say that putting the Demons back on track was a five-year job, Melbourne's Mitch Clark said what he thought.

"Maybe a little bit to be honest," Clark said.

Clark added that the quick turnaround other clubs had managed in recent years gave him hope Melbourne could do the same.

"Hopefully we can improve quite quickly," Clark said.

Clark also said that he enjoyed playing under Neeld and the absence of a few top players was hurting the Demons' performance.

Clark is beginning to sound like a real cluey fella.

i love Clark and Dawes, i cant wait for them to be fit and firing together

Me too, both these and Hogan with Howell will be a hot forward combination. I thank Neeld for getting them to the club but that's where the love for Neeld ends. Neelds message offers no hope to the club and supporters, that is why he must go.

Neeld must be pulled into line fast, his public comments are driving supporters to despair, let alone what sponsors must be thinking.

The players must also question this public negativity, they want to win games, that's why they play. FFS get him put of the place.

Neeld is trying to protect the players from criticism, Dawes comes in and basically says "no, it's our fault, you can't blame the coach".

If we are to retain our good players and attract even better ones, Neeld must go. His comment of 'it is what it is' is accurate. And if it is to continue in that fashion we will decimated. We did not need a rebuild of a rebuild. We needed someone to come in and steady the ship. He has practically sunk it.

Maybe Dawesy could write some stuff for Mark, Pre-Game Address, that sorta thing.

And he could knock up a dot-point cheat card for Media Grillings.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
