IF we can be in the contest long enough to almost believe we can win...and IF someone can actually LEAD on field, then we are a chance.

However, that has not happened in so many years that I don't think it will happen any time soon. When it does, the whole damn ship will right itself. IMO we don't have the right mix of coach/character/talent/experience to do it.

I also know that the few faithful that turn up will make a hell of a lot of noise if we are close enough to have a chance. What I wouldn't give to see this all turn around.

I admire your optimism, GisG but I reached my switch off point last week. I thought to myself 'WTF have I committed myself to for the last 23 years? This is pathetic. No crowd, lousy performance and a heap of people whinging about the umpiring when it is clear we are just awful. We are a loser club. Am I a loser by extension?' That sounds harsh (and no I know that a lot of people on here are successful and brilliant people) but at that very point, I walked away swearing not to go to another game this year. I've got assignments due. I've got better things I could be doing.

Our players lack the courage to exhaust themselves with the required effort for 4 quarters for our club. In other years they've genereally afforded the supporters a quarter or two, it averages about 5 minutes a game now. Plus we have a terrible coach. 20 goal plus loss for mine.

I was thinking the other day that last week the players played so paralysed by the fear of the consequences of a loss that seeing those consequences not come to fruition might actually see them off the leash a bit this week. And if Frawley has any sense of pride in his record against Riewoldt we may actually come out and score an upset. That's a couple of pretty big it's though and my optimism quietly faded into the abyss of reality. If we get within 70 points I'll be surprised.
