Just throwing it out there for consideration for a role at MFC.

Played 269 matches - 5 time premiership player

Coached 223 matches for 54% success, including finals for Geelong (95, 96, 97) and Adelaide (01, 02 03).

A Hawthorn hardman.

Now a Premisership coach at Port Melbourne (2012).

Make him the interim coach. I dont want any from within, Which is a sad state in my belief at the club right now.

Couldn't be worse than Neeld.

Unfortunately the Collingwood off shoot coaches look like spuds compared to the Geelong ones.

The guy I'd take from an inexperienced coach would be Sydney's (via stkilda and geelong Leigh Tudor).

But mainly id go for an experienced coach.

He should of been approached when Neeld began his career with us. We desperately need the experience of someone like Ayres in the coaching group.

This thread shows, that forget the rookie coach. We need a battle hardened experienced coach.

With an upcoming rookie at the side who can take over.

Funny enough like what GWS have done and as did the Pies.

So who are all the Expereinced Coaches ? What about a Ratten etc ?

Posted

Not sure why he is written off when he does has runs on the board and has a much better record than our current coach at the highest level.

In saying that it would be better to have a recent AFL head coach coaching us.

Melbourne doesn't hire guys that were great players and achieved a lot.

We hires losers like Bailey and Neeld

Possibles: Ayres, Choco Williams, Rocket Eade, Roos, Worsfold, Sheedy.

Gary Ayres could just be the perfect one for the Football Mangers role, won't be considered now for coach I believe.

He must be considered for a role and sounded out.

I think the days of Williams, Eade and Sheedy are gone. I dont think in there time of life they would want it.

Roos happy in media and Well why would Worsfold leave WC.

That leaves Ayres.

But hey Ratten is at Hawks and might be a Premiership assitant at years end and he can bring Yze back with him.

I think having someone like Ayres as some sort of coach would benefit.

I have heard that after he was sacked by Adelaide, he went back and really worked on some of the things that failed him the last time. I'm not totally against it, although a tiny bit of me just wants to stick with Neeld regardless. I'm so confused right now.

He's far too experience.

I'd much rather a no-name.

It's the Melbourne way

please just dont let Gary Lyon anywhere near the coaching selection.

Your right, because anyone who has come from within our culture, doesn't undestand its weakness. Melbourne has never been a tough rugged side since the Smith days finished...

its time we were again.

& its time to have a base away from the 'G', with all the necessary, for players & supporters.

Its telling that the only logic for getting Ayres is "ugh he will be better than Neeld".

Well done Sherlocks. I reckon if we had the position vacant we would still have a better option than the incumbent.

If we can't achieve better coaches than Ayres then this Club is fire trucked.

...all these highlighted would be temporary bandaids.

Only Roos, Sheedy & Matthews have recently changed an AFL clubs Culture.

Barassi & Hafey before them.

I reckon Demonland should take over, with a rotating roster.

Hell, it's not like it could get any worse.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
