I am normally positive, but this is just more superficial crap from the MFC.

Keep the promotion behind close doors and start worrying about winning games.

Getting over their spin.

What a stupid post,

You expect them not to notify people about these changes?

I'm tipping when Grimes returns they'll retain Jones and have 3 captains, like Hall, Kirk, Barry at the Swans... this has Roos' fingerprints all over it...!

The club is just letting members know what is going on......How can this be a bad thing....You would be the fist to complain if members weren't informed.....So negative.....

This was a 6 sentence press release on the website and one of the sentences is without a fullstop...

If you think this is spin then you are past cynical and into cylindrical.

They are just letting us know that temporary roles will be filled by two leaders.

Disagree.

But MFC's twitter incorrectly stated "Read on to see why @NeeldMFC has alleviated @nathan2jones to Co-Captain while Grimes is injured".

Or maybe one of our co captains got injured and we needed a replacement

What changes? Nothing.

He has a major role in the leadership anyway, they are just conforming to the pressure of the media again.

It seems like so many decisions that have happened at the MFC over the past year has been in reaction to the media.

If the appointment of a new captain (albeit temporarily) isn't worthy of publicising, what is?

How is this news deemed as "spin"?

Love to know if the two captains had a role in this decision.

Looks like the right man for the job, if his team mates follow him in terms of effort / attitude the club will improve quickly. Congratulations to him. Best decision by the club this year.

Go Dees

Good on them both - they have played well and deserve it.

Will take alot of pressure of Trengrove and also means if he needs to rest his foot Nugget is still co-captain.

Good move.

Go Dees

They would.

Not really something you could go over their heads about and they would have given their view/choices

I started at thread saying that I was for this so I'm very glad to hear they have gone with this. I feel it's the right call for the Trengove and more importantly for the club. Well deserve for Jones as well.

There was no hoopla at all that came with this, it was a small press release. I have seen pointless promotion from the club before and this is certainly not one of those times.

From what I gather of the article when Grimes is back, Jones will go back to being a VC. Perhaps if he excels at the role the club will go with it, but I would expect they'll go back to two.

What changes? Nothing.

Maybe they have done this on the back of media opinion, but on FC Gary Lyon was under the impression that this was a protocol in place should this happen on a long term injury. Only the club really knows for sure, but I think for the club image and for the pressure release on Jack it is a positive move.

So you are saying that the roles of Captain and Vice Captain are not important enough to warrant reporting in the press to keep supporters across the changes going on (temporary or otherwise)?
