Jack Trengove

Recommended Posts

Sylvia had his first full pre season and he's playing really good Football, i am really hoping Trengove will get one this year and have the breakout year we're all hoping for

my god! finally someone who agrees. Sylvia is playing really good football!

Sylvia, Watts and Trengove are fast becoming Melbourne's 3 favourite whipping boys. I agreed with our whipping of Cale Morton because he was a genuine spud.

These guys are guns of our club and lay the hell off and let there footy do the talking

Anyone who suggests match fitness as a reason for his lack of speed needs to be horsewhipped. Trenners is slow from the first bounce till the final siren and has been for over a season. Thats not match fitness to blame but something else. As i have said before, Blease has very poor aerobic capacity and still rings rings around Captain Plod. If it IS something else, i want to know what [censored] made the decision to play him injured and destroy any semblance of confidence he had......

ah...so now you think there might be something wrong with him like the rest of us apologists do.

biggest soft C*ck we have ever had.

If we and the media dont stop bagging these players out they will ingrain into their minds that they are disappointments.

Imagine Damien Barrett and Caroline wilson in a room together with that video? the amount of crap that would come out of a combination like that would be mind blowing.

A free moving Trengove...

How he went number 2 looking at that footage is beyond me, he plods around even as an 18 year old and his field kicking is all up and under rubbish.

His kicking is a bit up and under but almost every kick in that video goes exactly to the right spot for the forward to mark it. Obviously has to adjust that to AFL level but still look at the results form those kicks. And he burns a lot of those guys with pace in that video. Not everyone but you can't watch those highlights and say he was plodding.

Has anyone here actually had a bone fracture in their foot? Because they are pains of things to get over, he is still obviously suffering from it. Just can't wait until he gets over it COMPLETELY and starts hitting his straps, then we will see these forums talking him up like they should be instead of continually kicking a man when he is down.

We are after a club culture, as fans we are a part of that. I doubt having cheap, pot shots at one of the co-captains is showing loyalty to a rebuild. Where, obviously, he has had so much to deal with. The least we owe him is our support. If i recall correctly, he re-commited to the club when we were looking all doom and gloom, when Scully was taking the money and running, this man was stepping up and showing there are players who are wanting to be apart of this club and help lead them up the ladder. Now an injury which has gotten him down on form and confidence, has sent this forum into overdrive. Honestly, some of the people on here are borderline ridiculous.

Good post.

Seconded.

I can't speak for others, but I have no problem with Trengove it's the clubs management of him I have the issue with. If he is still recovering as you say then he should not be playing - simple. No point throwing him to the wolves and risking further aggravating the injury and allowing him to flounder in full public view while trying to lead the worst side in the last decade out of the mire. Take him out and get a plan in place to get him right for next year and if he plays some games this year it's a bonus.

Trengove, IMO, has the character where he wants to do all he can for this club, lead us in the right direction. If this involves playing through pain, thats the kind of guy he is. But those types of things are easier said than done.

+ 1 and that is why he is a leader and admired by the playing group

Seeing that video, it is clear that he has put on A LOT of weight since he was drafted. It's entirely possible that this is affecting him quite a bit, remember Bater in his first couple of years before he packed on the pounds?

In Jack's first couple of seasons, pace wasn't as much of an issue and he regularly looked dangerous on the run.

Since Neeld arrived and made him captain, he seems to want to do the team thing and tackle, rather than break into space and take the game on.

Then he's had injuries that have obviously stopped his speed work.

He still played well against GWS and up in Brisbane and he has really good vision.

So he can can still play, my only worry is leg-speed.

I just hope they have a sprint specialist helping him (not Misson) at training to make sure he pushes off hard and he's one player who should be doing 50x50m sprints once a week until he overcomes his speed deficiency.

We all know he has a tank and he will be more suited to fewer rotations next season.

There are a lot of talented players who dont have leg speed but they have a great ability to dodge and weave, and deliver the ball well. Not seen any of that this year from Trenners. I would have preferred he found a bit of form with Casey (if possible) before he was bought back in, bringing him back in, if he is in the same poor form does neither of us a service.

Good article but you would expect the comments from any of those close to him. I wonder if there advise is different behind closed doors.

Yeah, i have a terrible feeling he will be one of many players that might look for a new home in the next year or two if the board is silly enough to stick with Neeld

I actually thought his second half was a pass, his first half was quiet and he looked a little more free with his running,

certainly not the worst player we had today

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
