Jack Watts is marked so harshly by the people on here, including me.

First quarter he stands in the hole and shows great courage to take the mark and get absolutely crunched.

He got no credit for it from anyone on this forum, yet it was gutsy and courageous as hell.

He was also chasing multiple opponents numerous times, not his fault, where were his teammates? No wonder he could barely run, he looked stuffed.

Went forward in the 3rd and took some nice grabs and kicked 2 goals and looked at home, I wonder why? Because thats his natural position. Neeld is an idiot for ever moving him back.

no way should he be dropped, there was at least 11 or 12 worse players than him yesterday.

Play him forward from now on Neeld you moron

Maybe, maybe not, but he's been good the last two weeks so deserves his chance to play again.

That's how you create a winning culture.

I'm just trying to save him the embarrassment

Good on ya mate. I've been imploring others to watch the replay. They've all been bagging Watts for "not chasing" yet that can't be further from the truth, he was chasing so much he was knackered, and he was the only one doing it.

Here's a thing about football. When you are a defender your first job is to be on your man. Watts was so bad at it he had to get moved forward. Here's another thing, when you've played been on an Afl list for 5 years you should know how to tackle.

My second post I've decided to keep Watts and play him forward but it's an indictment on him that he has to be moved back to the other end of the ground having failed as a defender. Imagine if you were a chef and had to keep getting moved between desserts and entres because you keep stuffing both up.

Here's a thing or two about life. If you are going to insult someone maybe get all the facts first.

Then you with your 56 posts won't look like such a tool calling me a troll. Stick your hash tag where the sun don't shine.

who cares how many posts I have? Sorry I have better things to do in my life than post 1500 plus posts. That aside, Watts was moved forward because we were lacking options at the time. As much as I would like to see him as a permanent forward we need his disposal out of the back line. As soon as he went forward our disposal from defense was sloppy at best. The guy lacks urgency as most on here would agree but at the end of the day he is in our best 22. Neeld made special mention of his efforts yesterday in his press conference so obviously be seems to think the same.

How do people here judge that Watts is running half pace, or lacking urgency, or doesn't have courage?

Seems that the measures being used are not the same as those used by the club.

Watts to stay in, forward. Dunn IN ( he is not done in) and back. Strauss in. Evans sub. Davey full game. Grimes to the middle. Mckenzie out, pedometer (autocorrect, but I let it stand given he heard 'footsteps' earlier in the year!) out. TMac stays. Rodan out.

Fitzy a possible in. Dawes to earn it through Casey.

Out-Rodan,why the hell are we putting games into a 29yo,he's not our future,no more games for him ever and bring in the future.

Bail-go back to the 2's and learn some discipline, having a ping when Davey was free in the square is selfish and irresponsible.

Now, can I share a big secret? One of Carlton's stars (not naming names) has just moved in down the road from me. Should I sneak over on Sunday morning and superglue the driver's door on his car shut so he is late for the game? Or maybe distract him and quickly tie his shoelaces together and hopefully it takes him a while to work out what the problem is?

Not something I would really do, but it did cross my mind (naughty naughty thoughts sometimes do) :)

i'd personally prefer if you went the "bash and dash over the head with a lead pipe" option.

But thats just me.

Struggling to work out if this is in bad taste or not... but equally surprised that there was a GIF on Nancy Kerrigan

Can't believe those who drop mckenzie .

He walks ups to Judd and says remember me.

Judd gets really irritated by him

depends on his fitness. To me he just doesn't look right. Happy for him to stay or go depending on the clubs idea of his fitness. Problem is their really aren't any midfielders at Casey to replace him with. Nicholson just isn't disciplined or strong enough to tag. It's why I want Bail to do it.

No.

If we are honestly trying to rebuild our culture we need to play those who deserve it, not just pick players based on their names. Plus, Byrnes out? Geez that's dumb.

So for mine it's:

OUT: Pedo, Rodan, Jamar

IN: Dunn, Spencer, Kent

Watts to take Pedo's spot forward, Dunn to take Watts' spot back.

Stuie, you first comment about picking people who deserve it, then you include Kent as one of your "ins".

It may be hard for some to believe, I'm honestly not a Kent basher. But WTF has he done at Casey to warrant a game in the seniors?

Have you considered why some players are sent to the backline? It is to improve their defensive skills which will stand them in good stead when they go forward. Watts will be a far better player for having this experience. Neeld is not an idiot. He knows exactly what he was doing.

you could tell him that jordie mac is in form and to avoid him at all costs, this might free up our midfield

Does it really matter while Neeld is in charge on match day? It's just a matter of how much we are thrashed.

It's the truth folks, why bother about ins and outs when we are led by such a farce of a football department.

seriously can't we have some sort of clause added to the code of conduct that allows us to life-ban people who post defeatist carp like this? Nobody wants to read it and it helps nothing

Been yelling this from the internet rooftops for a few weeks now, and Neeld finally does it and the kid kicks two goals in a quarter including an absolute ripper form the boundary.

Leave him forward for the rest of the season and let him learn instead of making cut throat decisions all the time on him when it all doesn't go according to plan.

He was good but not great the weekend just gone, but has shown a fair bit before that. He won't be regular 22 this year, but he did enough early in the year to have been given a shot by now IMO.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
