Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Premiership quarters this year

Cumulative scoring in the 3rd quarters over the first three rounds:

For - 2.2

Against - 24.14

An almost unbelievable stat. Even by Melbourne standards that is horrific.

This has to be rectified immediately. A halftime break should be used to charge up, not down.

Anyone might think our players may be having a warm mug of horlicks at half time. Or a 'powernap' gone wrong? Maybe they're being forced to read 'Sleepers, Wake!' at the major break.

6.8 vs 40.31

They are our 2nd half scores this year.

44 points versus 271, in. 6 quarters of 2nd half footy we trail by 227 points.

That is a percentage - second halves - of 16.2,, and in third quarters of 8.9 !!

I was wondering if our overall percentage of 35 was the lowest ever in 'the modern era', but those third quarter and second half figures are just so absolutely damning.

I hope some journo asks MN to comment on them at his next presser (though the pathetic AFL Telstra website still cannot manage to record the questions in an audible manner).

I had thought that Missen said there should be some significant endurance and fitness improvement this year though the full benefits of his (and Craig's) regimen wouldn't be through until next year.

So, is it just that our players are just mentally weak when the blowtorch is applied in third quarters?

There has to be something a coach can say or do to stem that sort of scoring. Nail players to goalposts. Kick it to each other for a while (although that's clearly a challenge for us) Change the game plan. Come on. I think it'd be more interesting if they could televise Neeld's half time address.

I don't know about percentages in the modern era but St Kilda's first three VFL seasons were hardly auspicious.

As "The Saint Kilder Gussies" they played 48 games without a single win and with percentages of 29.2, 29.1 and 28.0.

This sequence of failure remains unsurpassed to the present day.

I thought we were okay against westcoast in the 4th quarter, maybe it's more to do with getting in the right head space coming out of half time?

No, that would be too simple. Also, it doesn't involve sacking someone, so obviously not the solution.

Maybe a hypnotist. "you haven't played a half of football yet. You are about to go out and start a game. Go get em"

I thought they said last year, that we wouldn't see any significant increase in fitness until this year!? (Having had 2 pre-seasons)

Seriously though, what do you expect him to say if asked that from a journo?

Your answer: "It is what it is, nothing but a train wreck, we look to rectify that"

This might sound stupid even illegal, why do we have to go off at half time? Why cant we just slowly jog round the boundary for the duration. Its obvious what Mark Neeld is saying at half time isnt working , so stay out there.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
