James Frawley

Looks very uninterested now and don't be surprised if he requests a trade even though I have been told he most likely will walk after he see's out his contract. We have heard that the saints have been keen the last two years and still are. If this was the case would we ask for a first round pick?

Was going to start a new thread but may as well post it here.

A couple of posters on BigFooty reckon there might have been some argy bargy between Frawley and Sylvia at some poncy Melbourne nightclub in the early hours of this morning?

Now, BigFooty is hardly gospel, and it's in the "Scandals and Rumours" section of the website to boot, but why can't I help but believe this one.

If the club had any brains they should ask james if he wants to play for West Coast, swap him for Brown, better than losing him in 2 yrs time as a free agent, the guys going to leave for nothing.

If the club had any brains they'd find a way to motivate and retain obvious talent like Frawley and develop it

But they dont have brains,so he will probably walk for nothing.

The minimum would be like for like or similar if he wants out. We need a 24-25yo who has made AA or close as a swap, maybe even a mid and remember that key backs are harder to come by. A pick is not on here we need some games experience if we are trading it away.

Maybe a Christiansen or Duncan at the Cats. Hawthorns good mids are a bit too old but maybe Shoenmakers. The WC trade above has some merit.

While we're on it the same thing goes with Watts a 22yo 50-60 games unfulfilled talent but a big upside. Reid at Sydney is one that comes to mind, but they are covered well in defence, Swallow from GC. That's the type of player you would look for, players who have shown enough to tease but done nothing to prove themselves yet.

Don't get what we want then no go, we need to get something to give and something good. Frawley no matter how he has the sooks now is an AA key position player and Watts has a huge upside. I would like to see them both stay but if they go talk like the North 2nd round pick for Watts is a joke.

Colin sylvia will probably go along with James Frawley, is there anybody else with free agency at end of the season?

I wouldnt blame any of them leaving, I would if I was a pro footballer with limited time left to make a mark on the game.I am so happy for Jarod Rivers getting a taste of playing in a successful and winning team.

Why would they stay?with no hope, no success and not the slightest glimmer of it in the near future!!

Watts isnt worth a second round pick, Frawley can leave at the end of next season for next to nothing, and Sylvia can leave this season for zero compensation, this club is in a world of hurt with no end in sight.

Our players have been bashed and smashed for years now and I marvel how they turn up week after week to get another hiding. and , they look like a team absolutely devoid of any positivity and confidence.

And James frawley I am quite sure has had a guts full !!

How can you soar like an eagle when you fly with TURKEYS ?

The way he's playing and the way he just sooks about everything on field I don't care of the experience we lose. Let him go and rape the team that wants him!

I'd like to think no one will pay Sylvia what he's getting with us and therefore he will stay though I'm not sure if that's even a good thing.

I hope Chip was blasted, for twice standing on the mark and not even bothering to put his hands up. He just watched as Kennedy kicked it over his head.

I thought it was selfish, lazy and pathetic. At the other end of the ground Brown was jumping around on the mark when his side was 12 goals up.

One player cares and the other doesn't. Pathetic.

I'm sorry but if I was great at my chosen profession and worked for a completely terrible company that was sinking faster than the Titanic, I'd be looking to get the hell out as well (which reminds me, it's time to look for a new job!)

If this club has any brains, they will move heaven and earth to retain Frawley, motivate him, and try to get him out of the obvious funk he's in.

agree what Jaded said

Frawley has had enough and who can blame him

The players are paid.

If he is gong backwards then I blame him.

Self motivation is something an AFL footballer should never lose.

Personal pride in your trade as a fullback is essential.

Personal pride in your trade as a fullback is essential.

It's his job, and he wants to work in a successful environment. Hard to keep motivated when you're constantly getting flogged.

Hard to take pride in your trade when your club is useless at its trade.

Of course I hope he wants to stay, stick at it while the going is tough and enjoy success at the one club. However if he doesn't see any hope of success, why would he stay?

He is a person in a highly demanding, very short term industry. Like any one of us, he'd be looking to make the most of it.

Do you think Jared Rivers feels anything other than extreme joy that he left?

Isn't he an RFA at contracts end of 2014?

If so, he might want to go but the Dees can match the offer and he has to stay, from what I understand.

Thats correct, i remember spud saying last year that hes a very loyal kid and that the MFC had been very good to him.

I blame him. he is being paid a damn good wage to do a job and he is not doing it, he is not trying and he is still taking our money under false pretenses. That is not good enough. If he wants to go then fine get what you can for him, as he is a waste of space in our list the way he is.

hmmm matching his offer from another club may actually mean he takes a pay cut.....

I reckon he would thrive under Malthouse's no b/s system, but is still a one trick pony. Can't kick left; is devoid of all confidence in an ever changing game plan - clearly another victim. Next year he may improve under a new coach.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
