Foxtel Stop It

Redleg

Recommended Posts

Do others who have foxtel find it annoying that they put the scores of the other games being played on the screen, Those of us like me who tape the other games then have that ruined by knowing the scores.

PS. My remedy has been to place my granddaughter's toy dog in front of the spot where the score appears.

Is it just me?

I will be honest up front and state I work for Foxtel in the area of product development (some of you know this already). My personal opinion is I actually like it as it stops me flicking between games to see the score unless there is some relevance e.g: I turned over for the final minutes of Cats v Blues when it got tight towards the end. To me its not much different to being at the G yesterday and having the Swans/Roos scores on the big screen. I can however see how it would be an annoyance for others. Such a decision is made by the production teams at the Fox Footy channel and I will pass this feedback on via my contacts.

NB: this is not an opportunity to slam me with a ton of feedback/questions regarding Foxtel but I feel in this case such feedback is relevant for me to deliver.

I don't like it.

Overkill. Especially with so many ways of checking scores nowadays, it'd be nice if you're watching one game just to be able to stick with it - and watch the other later on if you want to.

I hate it.

On Saturday nights I always watch the Foxtel game live and iq/record the channel 7 game so I can watch straight after without knowing the result.

I hope Foxtel stops it. Can't we just use our smart phones if we want to know the score.

I remember last year when we were playing Geelong(?) in a delayed telecast, and it was close, and with ten minutes or so to go they ahd an add for the up coming news and when they mentioned sport it showed us walking of the ground looking a little unhappy... couldnt believe it.

At least you can block it out by strategically covering up a part of the screen.

Sadly users of Telstra's AFL Live app can't conjure up those parts of the image cutoff by Foxtel in reducing the format to 4:3 for live streams (which they don't do for replayed streams). I'm amazed that Telstra hasn't leant on Foxtel to stop doing that.

This annoys me too.

What happened to the old, "if you don't want to know the scores in game x then look away now".

Died with social media and the smart phone.

7 or 8 years ago, all you had to do was avoid the radio or TV. Now you need a complete blackout.

I think the vast majority of people don't want to and can't watch 9 games a week...or even 2 games in a night. I'm in this category

I really enjoyed it last night when I sat down around 3/4 time and was able to switch over from the Gee/Car game to the GCS/BL game when that got close. I had no favoured team and just wanted to see the best footy...the momentum of both swung a bit so was able to play a bit of footy producer.

It is a really good feature, but I empathise with those that it frustrates. They do have the ability to make overlays removable, it would be good to see them do that.

Now let's not start on the real issue: image quality and channel 7

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
