Scathing but apparently accurate. Lets see if the players can prove it wrong on saturday night...

Think Melbourne and you think of insipid losers who are neither tough nor skilled, frightening nor feared, but satisfied by mediocrity and worse. The club has no personality.

insipid losers.

So list management including TH have nearly killed the club?

If you're talking strategy, you're including Tim Harrington.

Is that right, WYL?

You're basically saying the decisions to get Clark et al are killing the club

List management from 2003 onwards has been more bad than good if thats what you mean. So yes TH was involved.

We are where we are.

The culture has been there for years HT.

This is not just the current board, they are just another collection of people who couldn't do the job.

The decision to get Clark was great, but the negatives out weigh the positives as far as long term recruiting yes. Clark was aclucky get.

Nobody is immune from this

If we lose to Essendrug next Saturday night without having a white hot go or worse another 80 point loss.

It will be on. The members will not let it ride.

I haven't seen an MFC crowd like last sunday before.

The quiet accepting is over for all.

I have booked and paid to come up for the Brisbane Game on the 28th BD.

Should we retire to the Pub and forget the Gabba?

Not sure how I am going to cope with my Lions supporting Brother at the game.

Mate there is the Chalk bar a very short walk away from the Gabba, The issue i have is my Old man and Uncle have said the they won't be coming to the game this year, its not worth the hour drive from the Gold Coast, its sad as they both are Demons through and through. Sorry state of affairs my friend!

I know exactly how they feel BD

If I was not locked in with my brother I would pull the pin and suffer the financial loss

The pain will be far less than attending.

In spite of their loss to the Dogs I think the lions have a reasonable team.

They are at where we should be.

i couldnt agree with you more, but seeing what HG just hinted at, maybe if things are changed the turnaround could be drastic!, we can all only hope and pray i guess. If they turn up on saturday night like they did on sunday, they'll get 5000 max supporters at games for the rest of the year!. Maybe then something will change this negative energy!. enjoy your trip up to Brisbane anyway, lets just hope the football doesn't spoil it haha

A half million fine for not tanking RR

If you still think that OD, might I suggest you weren't paying attention. Reopen the various tanking threads if it's worth discussing.

We tanked. We got off lightly. Move on. Not the cause of any of our current problems, nor a reflection.

If you look at those threads bing you will notice I have stated on numerous occasions that I believe we tanked no doubt in my mind.

I wax on about winning every possible game no matter what the drafting consequence, I hate this honourable loss crap

I have said we did no different to Carlton, Richmond , WCE and numerous others.

The farce is we were fined $500 000 for not making sure we did a good job of keeping someones mouth shut.

Result we were not guilty but fined half a million that is the fact.

That period has help contribute to our current situation along with a number of other disasters in Coaching and recruiting.

If it was raining soup the MFC would be standing there with a fork.

No doubt everything is stuffed but some of the statements in that article are farcical...

"Collingwood a drawn grand finalist in 2010 and one week later a 56-point premier." - Well fark me that's just REMARKABLE.

"It scored only 1.4 after half-time against Port Adelaide (under Ken Hinkley, the club's third senior coach in a year)" - Really, I wondered what happened when you introduced a caretaker coach

"The side has not finished higher than 13th since 2006 and has won just 32 of 133 games in that period. It has had five different coaches" - This Dean Kent is having trouble digesting the idea of a caretaker

Nitpicking Supermac. That article is unimpeachable.

13th or lower since 2006. 32 wins and 101 losses.

That's the truth and there's no getting around it.

There's no more bleating left to be done. The scoreboard does not lie.

And yet despite that pathetic record, we were the only team thought good enough to win but which tanked.

Today I heard GD on SEN.

Surprise surprise he was quite good I though.

Basically said in spite of what people think he gets no pleasure out of seeing the way dees supporters are suffering.

Said how he caught the tram home from the game and it was depressing to see Kids and supporters with depression on there faces.

He said the league needs a "Melbourne" team

Was quite measured in his comments.

I found it difficult to disagree with him.

He still believes that 90% of the problems are Management related.

Poor decisions re Coaches and player selection are the root of our problems.

He did not say it out right but you did not need to be a rocket scientist to work out who he was referring to.

Said he did not know who was making player decisions but have been poor at it.

He has stated often in the past the the likes of Roden, Byrnes, Pedersen and Gilies were poor choices.

He said we were trying to do a Richmond ( pick experienced players from VFL etc )and there was nothing wrong with the approach.

But again our selection as in drafting was terrible.

Overall I thought he was close to the mark.

Restored my faith in him a little.

I thought he was pretty good to 'old dee', he could of hammered us but didn't.

...and unfortunately a lot of things he has been saying may well be on the mark.

Agree Old Dee I listened to him this morning and thought he was well measured in his views.

I was expecting him to be gloating and saying I told you so but as you and rjay have said he seemed to hold back a bit

Suprised with what GD has said here in one way, not disagreeing though.

If Neeld did not pick those players then who did?

Neeld would well know if they all failed then his career as a coach is done.

i don't want to see little kids crying anymore from watching the MFC

It kills me inside to see that....nothing has changed in 42 years, with the exception of John Northey & Stuie Spencer as President.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
