McKenzie I would hope is OK, We need him as a tagger run with player. I don't see Davey filling that role.

Forget Bail, he's not in the squad, but probably just catching up on contact training.

Not sure I agree with you. If McKenzie doesn't play then they will have to put in someone to the 25, and it wouldn't be unprecedented for that someone to go straight into the 22. Bail was the only one outside the 25 (apart from Hogan) to have full participation in all aspects of the training session. Hogan incidentally looks as though he will be treated as a full member of the first 22 at all times except when he plays for Casey. He is a class act and obviously the powers that be at the MFC want him ready for the very big-time by next year. At the end of the session the trainers got him and Bail (I would have thought one of the quicker runners at Melbourne) to do three 300m sprints around the boundary and hogan beat him 2 out of three times. I have no doubt he will be a powerhouse.

The training itsel was quite light as you would expect so close to a game. They did about 30 minutes of a simulated game (with one sides only of course and the forward line looked as though it was

HF Sylvia Sellar. Howe

FF Pederson Clark Byrne

Roden started in the square, and Watts played a central role from half back. Can't see Frawey playing CHB somehow as he was named.

Overall quite an impressive, sharp session . Let's hope it is a good omen.

Guest Spirit of 39

I spoke with Jordie. He will definitely play. He rarely trains the day before a game because he's nursing his achillies. It pulls up a bit tender after a session. Jack Grimes also only did the warm-up. Again, that's part of his pre-game training routine.

Spencer and Davey trained with the squad. Terlich was nowhere to be seen so you can assume he is playing at Casey today. It was a short, but lively session. Spirits were high. The boys were up and about as you can imagine.

I have been to most pre game training sessions in last couple of years ....McKenzie not participating no surprise

As Hogan and Bail thundered past on last run, Misson was walking behind them the conversation went like this

Me "Gee Misso what are you building there?"

Misson ( Laughs).."He'll be a Beast"

Spoke to Jimmy Toumpas asked him if he was nervous, said he wasn't but you can tell he is and excited.

Spoke to Jack Viney repeated my "take a deep breath before you go crashing in", greeted with laughter again, said he would have a 'word' with Ollie Wines during the game.

Sellar, and Gillies quietly confident, same with Tapscott, Sylvia raring to go, absolutely stoked "Round 1 and I'm playing"

The picture that told me we will be alright was Neeld laughing and joking with the players whilst they kicked for goal at the end of session, he had a couple of barrels himself

Highlight for me an my lovely lady, both Howe and Blease looking really sharp, they will benefit the most from having the big guys up fwd

Rodan went past got a bit thumbs up and smile.

Nathan Jones already had his game face on

HG, gday

Was wandering on if u had any insight into Sunday. Do you think we mentally played the game too early?

I remember once reading that Mick Mthouse said that he would go to Melbourne training the week before we played them and that he could always tell that his team would win due to our side training so hard and me tally playing the game too early. Meant we were already mentally burnt before the first bounce.

Hi all.

As of today I have finished with the club on an employment/voluntary basis, due to many areas that I don't agree with at the club, and some stupid responses from the club and Don. I have my own life to live.

Next week I will be writing a bit of tell all story on this forum as I won't be attached to the club anymore. That post will be my final post on demonland as I will more than likely get banned. It's frustrating at times reading what's on here and so many of you are around the ball park and not exactly wrong no matter which side of the ledger you choose.

I hate coming on her to see my brother (Col Garland) continually getting slagged on, it was only a couple of years ago he and Chip were looking at being a back line to build around, what's changed??? Whilst he may spray the occasional kick he rarely gets beaten one on one.

As for Sunday. It was a terrible, terrible day. All I can say is, in my eyes, Neeld doesn't seem to be cut out to be a senior coach, however that's my view. He's had 18 months, two pre seasons, two nab cups, new list and about 24 games to prove he can coach, to me, he hasn't. Only one lucky respectable win v Ess last year where Ess booted 6.16.

As for Schwab, you all will be told some home truths next week about what happened before 186..... He should not still be at the club.

But where we're at now is, we have a CEO that is cancer to the club and a coach who can't coach on game day. Yet it would be idiocy to make any rash decisions before years end. That's where we are at, buckle up.

Anyway, bad day, now not involved in the club I love. Take care

Sorry pal. I didn't know Colin was your brother. I don't like the nonchalant way he seems to go about his footy, but I've always stayed away from any kind of personal abuse (which I think is never the way to go). I'll be interested to hear what you have to say, as I have been for over 800 of your posts now.

Hopefully you keep visiting the forums, regardless of whether you are still allowed to post or not.

Keep up the good work, and go Dees. Let's hope they can turn it around before it's too late.

HG really want to say a massive thank you for all the wonderful insights you have provided to us over the years especially the last couple. It has been great to read some details from someone so close to the players.

Would hate to see you lost to the 'Land even with the position we are in.

Interested to see your thoughts in your "goodbye letter" next week.

Stay classy HG and tell Col we love him but we love him!

Id love to read the full story mate. Blind freddy (LOL) could tell that there is something SERIOUSLY wrong behind the scenes here. Whether Neeld has lost the players or the players hate their bosses and cant be bothered its not really clear, but im looking forward to hearing where my hardearned is going...

hells gate I dont think many would say your brother is one of problems - or even a minor one for that matter. We all know Col on his day can play. More like the actual bizarre structures given to the backs had them at times just standing there like witches hats away from their opponents. Watching the footage (I didnt go to the game due to a cold) it was clear they were being asked to do some odd things and didnt seem happy about it.

HG thanks for your input it's been much appreciated. Being outside the club and not knowing what going within the inner sanctum is frustrating beyond belief. We all know that there is something seriously wrong with the club. I look forward to your insight and like the others hope you don't leave Land for good.

My take - based on bits and pieces from this sight, word of mouth and a few other things - could all be BS but HG can clarify.

Something big went down before 186. Players acted and were basically ignored. Players werent and perhaps still arent happy.

Compounded by tanking pressure (which Lynden Dunn in particular was uncool with) and the sacking of James McDonald and Robbo.

Players think 'oh well, we dont matter and are expendable so ill just take my pay cheque and do enough.'

neeld comes in and basically goes hard and peels the pain off the walls.

neeld plays player against player.

Players dont really get all the new structures and are still smarting from the above.

My take on Neeld, (as was intimated to me by the father of a current player) is that one of the players (and their relatives) weren't overly happy with the reshuffling of the leadership group and the inconsistency of his approach (i.e. losing his s*** over certain things early on). Upon hearing the first thing, it didn't surprise me that this player then left as soon as free agency kicked in. He didn't slag Neeld off and was very matter of fact but those were two things I noticed when reading between the lines.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
