Viney Tompas and Jones to debut for us on Sunday......MFC....

Posted

I'd say Dawes hasn't pulled up well. Neeld was adament that Clark is playing.. So I would say they are taking Clark, Sellar and Pedo as the talls for the forward line. Otherwise we will be verrrrry top heavy

Posted

terlich has had the most impressive pre season out of all of them but wont play?

No Kent either?

Probably didn't want to have too many debs, but both will be in the mix early in the season if their VFL form holds.

So will be something similar to this:

FB: Garland - Gillies - Nicholson
HB: Dunn - Frawley - Watts
C: M.Jones - N.Jones - Blease

HF: Howe - Pederson - Byrnes
FF: Davey - Clark - Sellar

R: Jamar - Grimes - Sylvia
I: Rodan - Viney - McKenzie
S: Toumpas

E: MacDonald - Tapscott - Jetta

Not sure who will get the nod over Jetta or McKenzie

Gillies at FB, surely you jest.. in the game vs the Saints he was a shocker

KB regardless. take your pick

Pederson, Rodan, Byrnes and Gillies are all named too. No mention of Dawes.

What's your source for this?

The reports I've read are that Dawes has moved well, & has been rested to keep his hammies good.

So I think, being conservative after serious injury, that Clarke will play again @ Casey, after only completing 3/4 qtrs last week.

Remember his injury is career threatening so one more week at Casey may be good caution.

So I think it could be Sellar, with Pederson in the pocket, & Dawes @ CHF.

Either Sellar or Pedro can help Jamar, so its a nice balance.

Well Neeld said about an hour ago that Dawes didnt get up. Soooo................. this is awkward.

There would be a fair chance of of these boys will be the sub though. Its a fair point tho.

I wonder if the Toump would be a sub, or vica-verca.

Either way I think he'll play a shortened game in minutes.

Toumpas as sub makes sense to me. Eases the burden on debuting players. Viney and Matt jones have been prepared to play round 1, lets see how they go.

Sounds like no Dawes, sensible decision.

Hope tommy Mc plays because I think gillies can play but he's not a strong big defender he's more of a third tall. That might make us very tall but the club obviously has faith in watts, Dunn and garland having the speed to play small. That said I thought terlich was the man for the last defensive spot. Have Nicholson, Jetta or Strauss done enough?

'Oh', OK, I didn't know that.

Well that does make it interesting...

... what chances TMac chf?

Sellar & Pedro deep, with a small mobile forward zone?

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025.
