think as a club we need to demand more than mediocrity

had a bit of time and pressure is on, hasnt shown any good consistent footy

Nah, let's keep demanding mediocrity...

It's March, let's let the evidence appear before we design arguments from it, hmmm?

Poor form - and i notice H_T whilst you haven't sunk the boots in per se you certainly seems to be supporting those posters having a shot at him - strange behaviour from a moderator.

Ex-squeeze me? If you read the post binman, I was neither here nor there.

-That's despite my somewhat displeasure at a little criticism directed at Tapscott before he'd even stepped over the white line this year.

And whether or not I agree or disagree or support or non-support, moderators are allowed to post opinions like any other poster; so if it was 'here or there', there would be nothing really strange in behaviour as it's happened on these boards many a time.

....as long as it's done within moderation, of course. :P

Thanks for the feedback though, it was refreshing.

Fair enough. And of course moderators have the right to an opinion. I just felt other posters were being unnecessarily harsh towards the big o and you provided support for this.

The post i was referring to was:

''Slightly twisted, but just about on the money." which i read as you supporting another posters view that Osilisk was bagging Tappy. Pretty mild i guess so perhaps my criticism of you was unfair. Apologies.

My point about Osilik being treated harshly remains though.

No stress, it is an online forum so its all part of the fun and games that comes with being a poster.

I'll move on - by the by what position did Tappy play yesterday?

I hope you're right. Do you know if he played forward yesterday?

Not sure, hope so.

He was mercurial as a forward in the juniors.. Hard to think Tapscott has unique skills and goal sense just looking at him,

but hopefully we see some of that again.

The kid can seriously play, he just hasn't a good run at it.

That's fine and that was the post I was referring to. The first part partly agrees with olisik, the second part partly agrees with stuie.

Nothing like sitting on the fence. Here's to Tapscott having a more productive year anyway.

According to the stats on the AFL website, Tapscott had 8 tackles and kicked a goal - whether or not that indicates he played up forward or not, not sure.

But it does tell us that he is working hard, 8 tackles is a pleasing sign at least.

Rah second to the ball rah-rah-rah.

I hope he gets an extended run to show his wares - big bodies are always welcome.

You can't always be first to the ball.......If you are second the least you can do is tackle.....He will be okay....8 tackles is a good effort IMO

Who's doing the bullying?

The OPer was deliberately provocative, as he usually is. The OP didn't invite a discussion re Tapscott at all, it invited a discussion around whether or not Tapscott was a(nother) dud. Very different.

And polarising.

Excuse my ignorance but what does OP stand for?

Some mythical condition that our captain had last year apparently.

He missed PS games. Blokes manage stuff and the good ones don't whinge about it.

Trengove played through it last year and struggled, he will battle again in 2013.

I see no harm in illustrating that fact.

Reasons are reduced to excuses when others lose patience.

I am happy with that line...

If you were not alluding to fans saying that Trengove was injured last year then disregard.

I've not seen, heard or read anywhere that Trengove had OP. I would appreciate it if you could direct me where to get clarification/confirmation, as I would like to think that he "managed" some sort of injury through the entire season.

I don't know if he did have OP, but he most definitely injured/sore during the PS and missed games accordingly. Nowhere is there confirmation from the club.

Tappy's a young man on a learning curve. I believe he'll take it to another level this year that will surprise. He's the sort of player i would count on to go over the top in the trenches on the big day.

On GF day you don't need the whole team to be full of fancy pants running players with silky skills. Given it doesn't hurt to have a few of these, preferrably with class A skills, but i'd also want to take plenty of big bodied heavy hitting, long racking kickers who will give you an honest, no holds barred, return on your investment on the biggest day and biggest stage when it matters.

This to me is Tappy. No nonsense and you know exactly what your going to get as a base minimum output on almost any game he's involved in. I love the Tap!

I believe he'll prove he has what it takes in the next few years.

GO YOU DEMONS!!! TIME TO HIT EM HARD AND KICK ARSE!!!

I have my fingers crossed that Tappy will establish himself as 'best 22' in 2013, but he has a way to go. He obviously needs to get a lot more of the ball (av. only 11 disposals per game in 2012), and he needs to consistently 'hurt' the opposition with his main weapons, his strength, his tackling and his 'booming' left foot.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
