Footy Classified Lifts the Lid on Carlton & Richmond's Tanking 2007

That was the worst Footy Classified I have seen, and Im normally easily pleased. If that is the standard now that Grant Thomas has left, it is very disappointing.

Agree.

Looks like i missed very little.

How sad that such a great show from the week before now "no longer exists"

Winning games is the only answer for this club.

Obvious i know. But any other issue is superfluous for survival right now.

The fact we were shafted is not newsworthy.

if kero wasn't wearing a wig she should have a good chat with the first bloke

FC took a step backwards in quality

Who would be the ideal 4 panel?

Jeff was terrific. And not only because he applied logic to our situation, but he applied a strong sense of logic to everything he brought up. He also doesnt seem to care about keeping people happy, he says what he thinks and generally his views make a great deal of sense.

FC might have to get a wide berth from me if it was that bad Franky. I am easily pleased too.

I say AFL 360 last night and it was interesting to see Robbo (who i think is less than intelligent) have a crack at Carro when they showed the stories int he papers that related to Essendon's problems. His criticism was that a few weeks ago she potted hird and said he would have to go. In her latest piece she says that hird has to stay and Bomber will go. He said (along the lines) "She changes her story all the time".

Its exactly the same as what happened with the Demons saga - she changed daily!

They showed patrick smiths story and Robbo said "At least he sticks to one story"! (I am a bit sick of Patrick as well - but was an interesting observation).

Robbo stinks of essendon bias though. With no evidence he made a double spread in the Hun about our game at manuka against the swans. With the bombers he only states its a bad situation but no coach or board member is responsible. Can't have it both ways robbo. Also becoming the chief has blown his ego to the moon.

now drinking Tequila shots rather than VB's

He always sounds off his box to me.

I doubt he could type a story without a voice recognition app.

They should rename it, Footy pol' correctness 'Classifieds'... as the adds are more or lees as interesting as the show itself. thats a worry.

Sorry couldn't agree with you on Schwarz, I know he is a good demon man but he really is suited to a more lightweight role like the one he has now at SEN.

Wilson creates some conflict which is good for the show but they really need Thomas back for this to work or at least someone like him who is not in the pocket of the AFL.

Lloyd just can't string 2 words together and his effort at judging Carlton after the round robin was laughable and shows he is trying to make an impression by making the big statement. This show won't last out the year if it keeps putting up performances like last night. Hutchy knows it, he can be a bit of a d.... but he is a smart media operator and it's why he is pushing to get more of Jeff and setting the stage for more conflict with Wilson.

Who would be the ideal 4 panel?

Host: Daniel "Harf" Harford

Dermott (is not too bad when in good company)

Wayne Schwass

Tim Lane

Emma Quayle

Hutchy (but only for a news segment, not for discussion)

Edit- I know that's more than 4, but Hutchy would only come on for a segment, and Harf would operate more as a facilitator.

Emma's niche is the draft and the players. I couldn't see her on Hutchy's programme. Harford has a head made for radio, he'd admit that himself. Dermott doesn't suit that type of format IMO, unsure on how insightful Lane would be across topics.

I think the 360 crew mix and match well over different nights, topics, perspectives. And Whateley, despite his looks beats Hutchy hands down in covering various issues, etc.

On FC, I think Thomas for all his frankness was a key ingredient, and his opinions on the AFL and Demetriou were strong and the public I think liked his honesty and holding people to account. Caro with all her faults bats for the AFL most of the time. So if you've got someone like Thomas it's a good starting point. Perhaps Robert Walls?

What about Sheahan-Lyon-Hutchy Schwass -Walls? Sheahan may have taken a backward step but he'd still have many tentacles and contacts.

I could live with Schwass over Hutchy.

Yeah I'm not dead set on who I picked... Actually harder than I thought it would be to try and pick! Harf is a very unattractive man, but geez he's good on the radio, would be a great host/straight man for a show like FC. I always hated Thomas, but miss him now! You gotta have that one devil's advocate type don't you? I reckon Dermie is actually quite a clever footy observer, it's just when he gets around the old boys club he goes back into Saturday night at Inflation mode...

Sheahan, Lyon, Shwass, Walls is not bad, but possibly a tad boring and out of touch. Would be good to have a more recent player or coach on there and one of the "newsbreaker" types. I think the main influence on my list was trying to get a couple of different heads on there, bit sick of the same blokes on every show.

How about this:

Harf (Host)

Sheahan, Schwass, Thomas, Mooney

I don't see the difference between Harford & Thomas's heads..

Then there's the robbers dog !

Harf would be OK if he could handle the heat.

Sorry Stuie, can't agree with you on Dermie. The guys a nuffie who loves big noting, and implying that he is cutting edge by using the latest fad football terminology and phrases. Not a lot of content comes from that pea brain, I'm affraid.

'Sheahan may have taken a backward step but he'd still have many tentacles and contacts'

And the same tendency to bag the club the purportedly supports ?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
