Craig Cameron set to quit

The footy department boss of @Richmond_FC, Craig Cameron, about to quit. More on http://afl.com.au soon

Damien Barrett just tweeted it. Hope he isnt going back into recruiting.

Strange time to quit. Could be nothing. Could be related to all things happening. If a player, coach, club administrator, club doctor or mascot farts at the moment I think it's related to PED's so probably nothing.

RICHMOND has began a thorough search for a new general manager of football operation following the shock resignation of Craig Cameron.

Cameron informed the Tigers that he is seeking a challenge outside the AFL, and will soon commence work as chief executive of BC3 Thoroughbreds.

The highly respected football administrator has headed Richmond's football department for the past five years after a stint as Melbourne recruiting manager.

Strange timing to say the least.

I wonder if we can expect some Tiger tantrums in the next few days.

The year of the Snake is moving along nicely.

Hope he knows more about thoroughbreds than he does about recruiting footballers. You get the feeling that he was working for the Tigers for more than the last five years.

I don't want to seem like a CC apologist but I believe Molan was a Daniher decision and was the all in for a flag list management decision and the poor development that followed was really a club wide problem in the late Daniher into the Bailey years. He had his fair share of reasonable selections - Frawley, Garland, Davey, Jones, Grimes. I feel others like Rivers, Miller, Sylvia, McLean and Bartram could have made it in the right sides.

I might be way off the mark but to me he was an average recruiter who then brought guys into a less than average team in terms of development.

I think it's a big call to link him to any ACC dealings. I wish him good luck and seeing as though Richmond seemed to find some kind of steady period under his recent direction I'm always happy for them to resume shooting themselves in the foot!

Will always be known for taking Luke Molan at pick 9 in the superdraft ahead of 50 other blokes that had decent careers.

The Cale Morton one is just as bad...

There are so many reasons to dislike this short post:

a) It was widely reported that Daniher gave instruction on choosing Luke Molan.

b) Many thought Morton wasn't a bad choice at the time.

c) Why do people butcher every possible committee man, player, servant of the club?

We loved it when CC came onto 'ology/Land at the time ... it gave us gravitas.

That is all.

Top bloke in my experience - wish him the best!

If that's the basis we use when hiring our recruiters we will remain on the bottom forever. We need ruthless, someone that doesn't consider anyone out of bounds not just a bloke that everyone likes.

Not having a go at you just stating an opinion.

I think if you reflect you will see that as one of your poorer posts.

I thought you were going to go along the lines of "we should hire the best, whether they be a good bloke or not."

Instead we got a recommendation to hire Stephen Dank...

Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion, I said go after anyone (player) not anything.

If Buddy is available I want us to go after him not roll over and assume he wouldn't want to come to Melbourne; anything wrong with that?

On excellent information Chris Connolly is a top bloke too.

I agree in he was great in coming on and giving us the insight but lets be realistic, when we think of that superdraft we think of that selection. Whether it was danihers choice or not CAC still cops the flak for it and always will.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
