Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

BH - I share your enthusiasm for Barry and think he will be a player for us in the years to come. However, I have seen different sets of statistics for him which suggests that when drafted he weighed only 65kg. If your information is correct then we might see him in action at the top level sooner rather than later but, on the vision I've seen of him, I would suggest he's still way too light to be considered at this stage.

Happy to be proven wrong though.

I think he'll be considered early.

Its looking like we have at least 4 go to players once we get it out of the centre.

Blease, Sylvia.Toumpas and Barry.

Any of these can deliver skillfully to a forward or run in and kick a goal themselves.

Myself I don't expect to see Dom barry much if at all this year as we try to instill a new hard edged way of play culture into the Demons jumper.

If I was planning our future trajectory, I'd be showing our more senior players how we want the Demon way of play to move into, with a mixture of mature recruits showing they're games, & adopting Neelds tactics.

I would think I'd hold Barry back to emerge next year along with Hogan. In an already shaped hard to play against culture.

I'd make it harder for the kids to break into the team earning they're stripes thru guts & bloody hard work.

Careful - if we don't play him enough*, or maybe if we play him too much* it will be just more incontrovertible evidence of the deeply ingrained tanking culture of our club.

* strike out whichever appeals to journos and / or AFL Inquisitors on any given day.

Jimmy Toumpas 183 cm 77 kg

And most would expect Toumpas to play virtually every game.

there is no way that Barry is 78kg. 68 when soaking wet perhaps. i'm guessing its a typo

From what i saw Friday this kid looks handy we keep him fit play him every week and hell turn into a star we just need to show a little faith give him a gentle push and I have no dout he could tear games apart looked like he was moving across the ground with ease ( even tho a few of the boys had trouble keeping up) could be that awesome crum player like cyril and with the three talls up forward he could cause trouble with flash there as well( if he gets a game )(he might be done and dusted but hope not)

In all of the boys we have taken I really hope he gets a good run of games coz we no the others will good luck Dom ill be there cheering u on

saw the kid at training today, I see what others are talking about with that smoothness/slickness of movement and ball use, looks like Michael Jackson dancing, he definitely has whatever that is, that maybe 1% of players have - however, whether this translates into doing any actual damage on an AFL field is another story.. he could be a Cyril Rioli or a Jamie Bennell

This is one player I am looking forward to seeing play in person. Do you reckon with his (undeveloped) size he'll be able to handle the rigours of senior footy this year?

From the MelbourneFC's own website BH;

183cm 70kg.

Who would be most likely to know the height and weight of a Demons player, Big Footy, Fan Footy, the AFL or the Melbourne Football Club? #[censored]

(Nb. I put that last word there because I'm on his ignore list so he won't know what I've written.)

I'm with Bibg (above), FFS can someone ask the kid when they are at training next please.

Rohan Bail was listed 92kg a few years ago when clearly he wasn't.

had to be a typo. Barry as 78kg is absurd.

Does it matter what weight he is????...If he can get the ball and use his skills....Who cares what weight is listed on what site......

A typo of 92 instead of 82 is understandable as the 8 & 9 are next to each other on the numeric keybad on a keyboard.

As the 8 and the 0 are at opposite ends, I'm quietly confident (as are you by the sounds of it), that the MFC haven't made another typo and that Barry is closer to 70kgs rather than 78kg.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
