By the sounds of the MFC post the boys are all tip top shape. Maybe it is time that Sylvia took on a leadership role?

Pre-season update: Sylvia to Blease

I'd like to see Sylvia lead on the field this year and have no more off-field indiscretions from now on and then I'd consider him for the leadership group. He must earn it, and if he does then I'd be more than happy to include him. If it was up to me of course

Is it just me or are the Brian Royal comments about as insightful as Today Tonight's latest exposay into 'Super Market Rip-offs'. At least from Brown and Rawlings you get a sense that the guys have a real feel and knowledge of the game and the players, Brian sounds like he just reads the stats from www.finalsiren.com.au and then adds the comment 'trains well'! Pathetic puff pieces.

They're much better than last year where, reading between the lines, you realised that the new coaching staff was far from impressed with the fitness and work ethic of the majority of the squad.

Yes the fluff is of a far better type this year.

And all of it really counts for 2/3 of 3/4 of sfa.

Only when jumpers are donned and the line of competition crossed will we know truly where the players rank.

Having said that there does seem the fleeting glimpses of some sort of satisfaction as to how certain "disappointments" are now travelling.

I'll just wait and see.

At the risk of stating the obvious " the boys are training the house down"

Now there is something new for an off season.

It has been heard a few times over the years.

I will reserve my judgement until about 4.30 pm 31st March 2013

No, I'll reserve my interim judgement until 4.30 pm 13 April R3 post WCE at MCG, and then I'll watch carefully until the bye in R12 that is preceded by Fremantle, Hawthorn & the QB game against Collingwood. Wouldn't it be wonderful at that stage to remain engrossed in the football & not the impending draft selections??

2013 has to be better!

Disappointing they couldn't elaborate on Blease a little bit, considering he's one that has always struggled aerobically in pre-season. I already knew his 'speed & kicking' wasn't a problem, but where's he at fitness-wise compared to last year?

All the reports are light on; it would be nice if they could eleaborate on everyone and maybe even keep the website updated with players current situation (rather than merely number of games) and consistent format as some player profiles are very scanty and other expansive.

I thinking focussing on his speed and kicking probably explains where his aerobic capacity is at.

Hopefully his decision making has improved .

His choice of friends when he first got here was pathetic .

Dee-tox: generally poor summer of posting, needs to work much harder on the track

i will add however the nature of fluff or puff isn't much different . It's the actual descriptions that have changed. I 'll take a little encouragement from that.

If there was one single thing I take away from these and other reports is a singularity.

This being that those now at the club and well and truly paid up members of the "bought in " club !!

That's incredibly valuable.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
