Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I live two minutes from Casey Fields. If we could somehow prize that 40 machine poker licence off them, it would be a massive result.

I may be wrong, but didn't the article say a LOSS was made on SELLING them?

Shame MFC didn't buy them, in that case.

surely more options than to take a hit on the machines. Lease the licences for a period whilst you reorganise your financing. or something.

Sounds like amateur hour at Casey.

Reckon we might need to take over which is a shame depending on what way you look at it.

Just top up our VFL playing list with locals and players from either Dandenong Stingrays or Gippsland Power who miss out on getting drafted.

Long term . Assett. Better player development

Short term . Pain in proverbial . Will require a redirection of funds earmarked for something else. May not be a lot of choice.

Creating and fostering the Casey Demons might have a lot of upside eventually. Silly to throw it all away . Just need to find a sugar daddy sponsor to underwrite it.

How deep are Jayco's pockets ? Lol

Can we ever keep out of the news?

Maybe I'm alone but I think seeing five articles about Melbourne on the Superfooty homepage, albeit relatively negative ones, is better than having absolutely no coverage whatsoever.

Such prevalence of coverage of Melbourne means the media acknowledges the club's growing brand and the importance of covering issues that surround the club.

I doubt North, Bulldogs would get anywhere near as much scrutiny. The media hacks the club because it expects better. Everyone does. It holds the club accountable, and I think in the long run the club will learn a lot from the ordeals of the past few weeks. Melbourne should be up there with Collingwood, Hawthorn.

I don't think being the club everyone wants to have a whack at is particularly good for the brand, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Why do we have to bail out Casey by ending up with a VFL team in the middle of nowhere? I thought that we were looking at a new stadium down at Docklands in the City of Melbourne. Surely that could be investigated then at least our VFL team could be badged the Melbourne Demons and could be accessed by public transport (and a short walk from the tram terminus)!

That there is no facility in Docklands might make that option a tad difficult presently.

This is classic glass half full/empty situation .

To some it presents as a dilemma wrapped in a liability .

Others its an opportunity .

I always thought long term the idea of us having our own team based out of Casey was the way to go, although not like this. This would be particularly costly with us possibly having to bail the Scorps out of debt.

I think the article talks about us creating a team called Casey Demons, we would not take on their debt imo, just start a new team under the same banner but a whole new financial entity.

Also is easier than people think to go broke with pokies, you actually need the facilities, huge over heads, etc you need other things to draw punters in, bingo, food, etc Might be that it was not a good area and they just over estimated who would come etc?

Worked out ok for Collingwood...

They did have a large existing supporter-base though - just needed to jumpstart it, not create it.

"Us against them"?

i am taking the blessing in disguise approach, whilst financially it will hurt to get off the ground, fielding our own VFL side gives massive upside to fast track player development. Not only that I live 15 minutes away and there is still massive growth going on in that area, several new housing estates surrounding the ground. Having the Casey Demons means the red and blue can be splashed all throught the school system in the area creating a new generation of demon supporters!

Whilst it is a long way from the Melbourne, the ground is in great condition and the facilities are good on top of that within 2 - 3 years it will be surrounded by a new community of people.

Just hope we can find the money to do it.

Because that would undo all the work the club has done in growing the club in one of the fastest growing municipalities in the country.

In the long-term the Casey Demons is the go ...... a standalone team in the growth corridor.

But now? Potential fines over McLean-Gate - possible loss of sponsor support thanks to Wilson ..................... where's the money going to come from.

Let's look on the bright side - be stupid for the AFL to fine us one day - only to have to subsidize our VFL affiliate the next. They might have to rethink the penalties !!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
