Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I can confirm you have posted one grainy, inconclusive photo with a perfectly made up claim that will maximise attention.

Well done, troll. Mission accomplished.

Time will tell...only passing it on for the benefit of Demonland.

It is well and truly out there that Cale may be traded so I don't understand your pessimistic view. Like I said take it as you will.

I'm only passing on what has been sent to me..

Relax

To add to this, I'm not fussed if he stays or if he goes..

He has underperformed since his arrival for various reasons, however if he can get a solid run at a per season then I think he will show some signs..

This is not a personal attack on Cale from me whatsoever but rather an opinion based on running a business. After all this is exactly what it is. Nice guys aren't always successful, successful guys are.

I think you may find it's Not hate for player, but a hatred for our players failing to develop & continually under-performing, yet still accepting they're contracts in full each year.

Does anyone else want to see Morton have an uninterrupted run at a Misson preseason? He is just 22.

as much as i think Morton is a piece of showerheisen.

Morton has a good amount of talent and when at his best which we have all seen before, he is a really good player.

maybe give him another year or 2. see how he pans out.

than again, if he left i really wouldnt been upset.

maybe if he actually puts on some muscle and starts playing regularly, i might change my decision.

either way im content.

also, does anyone actually think he could endure a full Misson preseason?

OK, so my comment from earlier was deemed inappropriate. I'll be more constructive this time.

I don't have much hope for Cale to turn it around. Confidence is obviously the issue and once that's gone on the field, it's hard to get back.

I loved his first two seasons. His games against Collingwood and Footscray in '09 were brilliant, racking up + 35 disposals in both games.

He's a capable player but if he wants to go somewhere else I'm not really fussed anymore. I'll just cry a bit over how we could've had Danger instead.

Confidence is the word here - he gets bagged for the running away from the port ruckman internally to MFC and externally at other clubs..

Wasn't his greatest moment. We pile on the pressure for those who back out of a contest, this guy ran away like a kid in a school yard.

Again I'm not having a go....but it's all perception and the perception in the greater football public is that he is easily intimidated.

If Cale had a shoulder reco recently, how would he be doing a fitness test at WCE? Wouldn't his arm be in a sling of some sort? I thought that shoulders had to be kept still for quite some time after a reco. I recall this being mentioned when Jurrah had his done.

Although the fella in the photo does look incredibly daggy, which I imagine Cale to be.

Hmmm. I hate the culture of near enough is good enough that the club lived and breathed since Northey left. We just ruin players. Our list of what ifs, what could have beens and 'geez he looked alright in his first year or two' players would make a strong man weep.

How can you hate players that haven't been taught properly and who are surrounded by other blokes that have learnt the same bad habits?

Good point...was it just a clean? If so, no it wouldn't be in a sling. Also can we confirm anywhere about if he went under?

The article says "He will undergo surgery on the shoulder this week and is expected to be ready for the start of pre-season."

Dated August.

When does our preseason start?

I don't think he would be wearing a sling..trying to remember seeing him at the best and fairest.

That would be when he had a go at a significantly bigger opponent and then ran for the ball when it came back into his immediate vicinity? Yes, we all know that the media love to show a tiny bit of that footage that looks bad when taken out of context, but I think we Melbourne supporters can afford to look past the media bias to what actually happened, don't you?

Agreed. We can, but can our opposition?

That clash had its ambiguities - some say that Morton was chasing the ball.

Lade's intent was elsewhere.

Against the Aints this year, he tackled hard, bringing McEvoy down 2 or 3 times.

He has the ability to run and carry, but opposition clubs work out his limitations pretty quickly.

I think he'll go.

I think the big reason for Cale to leave is because too much has happened at this club for him to thrive here. How can he become a part of the team after two or three disastrous years, the constant barrage of That Footage, his teammates' lack of trust in him on the field and whatever other issues there have been? I honestly think he still has what it takes to be a quality player, but I don't think he can do it with us. Therefore it would be worthwhile to take what is offered for him, let him have a fresh start somewhere else and wish him well.

The problem with this is of course, that if I'm right we will be criticised from all corners for letting such a talent go so cheaply when if we'd only stuck with him he could have been doing this for us. Nobody is going to think about the circumstances mentioned above. So while it could be seen as a win/win, in the long run I think we will come out poorly either way.

Right - enough of the fun and games.

Background:

I went to the TAB to collect my Saturday winnings and watch the Geelong Cup.

On the way back I walked past Cale on the phone. After crossing the road I decided to take a quick pic and put it on Twitter speculating why he was in Subi.

Of course lots of people took interest and it snowballed.

Now, a few things.

- yes it's Cale. Sorry I didn't take the zoom lens to the TAB. I'd like to think I've around Melbourne forums long enough to be trusted. I don't bullsh.t

- the MFC twitter crew thought it would be a good social experiment to see how far this would go. We haven't been let down. The 2 threads on Big Footy are, interesting, though I don't like being called a troll.

- finally Demon Forever - mate on holiday hey champ? You [censored]

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
