Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Personally I'm going with Wines, mainly because I expect that he'll still be available at that pick and he meets our needs of midfield depth.

He and Viney will push eachother along and he'll add strength and a hard edge to the side.

Will be interested to see what others think?

i'm going with O'rourke, simply because we need outside players. I think we already have good inside players (Jones, Viney, sylvia, Mckenzie) but we don't have very many outside midfielders for these guys to give it to. O'rourke adds a fair bit of class too which we definitely need. That being said i would still be very happy to have wines in our side :)

I'm going with Wines. Hard, tough talented inside mid. I disagree with YoungDeeEnthusiast above that we have this area - the most essential part of the side - sorted. Jones is at the level but Sylvia has shown he can't be relied upon consistently and Mckenzie is "tagger quality" in a finals side. We another class inside mid to add to the team along with Viney and Wines fits that bill more than the others. I don't think Toumpas will be around at 4 but even if he were I'd be tempted to go for Wines over him. He's everything we need and will play 250 games in the engine room for the club.

Only going off highlight packages so I am in little position to judge but Wines looks like he has the ability to be an in/out complete player. Does that jive with what others have seen? We really need a dynamic ball winner that can win tough footy but also move and get the ball in space. Probably looking at BH here as he would know what I am talking about.

Jimmy Toumpas-we need the pace ,inside ,outside ,goal kicking ,tackling type of player that is ready to go .

We need everything.

Jimmy is also from SA so he may as well join the others at Melbourne .

I'm keen for Wines.. Good friends with Viney and already a melbourne supporter.. hopefully bring some more heart to our side. Not keen on drafting players that might get up and leave after 2 years.

Toumpas or Wines. Otherwise a really skinny dude who refuses to wear anything but v-necks and thinks glasses without lenses are "pretty sweet".

We've been through this, we can't use pick four on Wellingham because he's already gone to West Coast.

Toumpas. We have :

2 proven in-and unders in Jones and McKenzie.

2 stop gap in-an-unders in Magner and Couch

2 potential in-and-unders, Viney and Gysberts.

We NEED outside brilliance.

Toumpas - but I don't reckon he will get to pick 4.

Whilst winning your own ball is important, I would say that using it is of more importance to the MFC at this present time.

The MFC need mids who can win their own ball, have a turn of speed, have fantastic footskills and can kick goals.

Jimmy Toumpas is the one we want purely because his ability to win contested ball is better than Wines' acceleration and kicking ability...

Jimmy is the complete package but I reckon he'll be gone by 3. Fingers crossed.

I think O'Rourke will be the most complete midfielder.

Can win it on the inside and has exceptional skills, pace and endurance.

Here's what Martin Allison, former Calder coach, says about him:

"He has exquisite kicking skills, which makes him stand out. Whilst he's more than capable inside the contest, I think his strength is on the outside," Allison says.

"He glides across the oval and he's a fantastic runner. So I think he's going to be a pretty handy acquisition."

I wouldn't be unhappy with Wines but I really want a skillful mid with pace. I get the impression Wines is a josh caddy battering ram but doesn't really hurt the opposition with his possessions.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
