I reckon he's off to Freo but.

He might have been til we stuck our hand up. Now he'll be thinking

Yep, Range Rover is back

I think he may have got marooned up at Hotham without any antifreeze. Poor bugger got a cracked head.

Gumby for ability.

Dawes for durability.

I voted Dawes for the reason that I think he would keep fit and un-injured compared to Gumby.

how our fwd line would look if we got both (once Hogan has debuted)

LHF: Dawes CHF: Hogan RHF: Gumbleton

LFP: Brynes FF: Clark RFP: possibly dom barry as he switches between mid/fwd

May be a bit top heavy but i don't think any team would have a good enough defenders to hold back a fwd line that big and strong!

It's a difficult one.

While I think we're a better shot of landing Dawes I think I'd prefer Gumby due to the potential upside and his marking ability compared to Dawes.

While having both of them for next season would be nice, I don;t see the need long term with Hogan to debut in 2014 and Fitzpatrick coming along nicely since his chronic fatigue was properly diagnosed as diabities.

So I voted Gumby. Other options if we were to luck out on both for me would be Mitch Brown (Gee), Jesse White (Syd), Khan Haretuku (Frankston), Mason Shaw (Sth Fremantle) or Cam Pedersen (N. Melb).

I think to get Pederson as well as Dawes and Gumbleton is a bit much.

Two out of those 3 would be great, but id even be really happy with just one of them.

Dawes comes from a far superior system. He understands the structured game very well, particularly playing forward. He can guarantee at least 30 goals in a season. He can rotate with Clark as a relief tap ruckman. Most importantly, he is virtually a healthy man.

I don't get Gumbleton's upside. Plus I think he is very much Plan B and even then I would look elsewhere.

Dawes to the fore.

While I agree with you about Dawes, I think Clark would be able to manage the back-up ruck role.

I was dead-set against Clark in the middle but that was before Hogan and possibly Pedersen/Dawes, I don't think we will get Gumbleton.

If we get neither Dawes/Pedersen, then Martin will back-up ruck.

My preferred outcome would be Clark, Dawes, and Pedersen/Martin as 2nd ruck. But I would understand if Martin was traded for Dawes.

I am not that thrilled about either. But I would pick Dawes only because I think it would be a good win for the club, if he picks us. I guess he would be handy too.

Injury-proned Bomber Scott Gumbleton strains hamstring

A HAMSTRING strain has interrupted Scott Gumbleton's pre-season, with the injury-prone Essendon forward suffering the setback on Friday during a training session.

Gumbleton's off-season campaign is likely to resume in January and he will be put on a modified program for the club's remaining training this year after the minor strain.

Gumbleton had enjoyed a seamless transition into the club's pre-season campaign. The forward had participated in much of the club's training and was prepared for a summer to help establish his place in Essendon's forward line after signing a one-year contract when in demand from rival clubs.

The 24-year-old has endured a tough run with back and hamstring injuries since joining the Bombers in 2006.

The former No.2 draft pick has managed just 28 games in six seasons at Essendon, with 17 of those coming in 2010.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
