Pick 20 options

Much said regarding the idea of a Dawes deal @ 20

But what if we go down a different road and say look at Pedersen etc as the 2nd up fwd.

Who then at 20

Who and what type ?

All you drafting gurus..... Over to you

pick 20 options:

1. Nick Graham (Gippsland Power) - Morrish Medal winner. Good tough taller midfielder. Exactly what we need. Very good 2nd half of 2012.

2. Sam Lowrie (WA, Sth Fremantle under 18's). taller midfielder at 187cms. can win the footy inside but also run & carry. Skills are elite. We should get him as WCE have traded pick 17 off the magpies.

3. Rory Atkins (Calder cannons) - elite kicking skills. as shown as Draft combine, he uses the footy. Reminds me of Brent Reilly from the Crows. All class.

and a mature age bolter

4. Dean Towers (Nth ballarat, 22yo) - Medium midfielder/half back. Runs and carries the footy. Has speed, agility and showed athletic ability at the draft combine.

I misunderstood the title. I thought this was going to be multiple choice.

I'd be fairly happy with Dawes for pick 20.

Sorry to disappoint lol

Dawes is a choice, but if we decline the wonders of Collingwoods list.. Who

I keep going to the notion of roles. We only need someone who can adequately perform as 2nd up fwd. doesn't need to be a gun etc

Another midfielder, especially if we get Grundy at pick 4. Viney and Barry are too little from a so-called supper draft blessed with midfielders.

Where are the midfield FA and RFAs we were gonna target? With Beamer seemingly gone, we severely lack experience in the midfield.

Despite other reports, this draft seems very shallow. The top prospects are great as always but it falls away big time.We should take another midfielder at 20 if we don't trade it. We need as many mids as possible as it's clearly our weakness.

If we get Wines at 4 , that means we will have our tough inside mids sorted.

Our Backs ....Sorted.

Our Forwards with Hogans, Byrnes and possibly Pederson.....sorted

So the next two picks should be used on run and carry type players, preferably with pace, endurance and good skills.

We already have Barry,Blease,Bail,Possibly Ray, so we need a couple more.

Best available.

IIRC it was 2003, and we were in desperate need of a big body forward to support an aging Neitz. Traded pick 20 for a slightly dubious key forward with positives and negatives. Ben Holland. Sound familiar?

Line ball but I call that a win for us. Same again?

But do we need that 2nd fwd to be pick 20?

We will have lower picks

Mate... he was gone by the half way point of this season. The experience you wanted to see barely shown by him in 2012 ...

Colcohoun?

Atkins would be good.

I'm starting to think we should go after some small, strong, running players, who can play defence or forward.

Go after a 'Gumbleton' now we have Hogan. a 3rd Rnd type tall forward, who'll crash & bash.

Sam seems quite interesting. A good back project type. We've put so much emphasis on the mids and forwards but we have to have up and comers everywhere.

I think we need some zippy players with that agile 'step', to get past & break lines. Take the game on types, from the turnovers we'll create.

We don't just need an outside mid, & they're not all one dimensional.

Some smalls can go back & forward & work hard in the middle.

If we get 4 of a kind in 20's picks, we could get a spread of ages.

It may not be the super draft that was touted a year ago, but I reckon it's very good. Up to pick 40 or 50 you'd expect to get a very good player.

As usual they'll be players taken in the 20's that end up being better than players taken in the top 10. The skill is working out who.

Best player available not fussed mid, forward. We took Tom Mac as a forward now he is at home in defence, can happen again, did I also read somewhere Membrey has a decent tank for his size, could end up similar to Rockliff

Inside/Outside Midfiedlers:

Sam Lowrie, Rory Atkins

Outside Midfiedlers:

Laine Wilkins, Matthew Haynes, Dean Towers, Jackson MacRae (if available)

HBF/Midfielder:

Nathan Wright (if available), Sam Colcohoun (if available)

KPF:

Kristian Jaksch, Tim Membrey

Would be happy enough with any of those 10. I'd also be happy enough to trade if for Dawes.

I would trade it for Dawes but does anyone know the draft rules I think we have to use a minimum 3 picks in draft

You are not factoring in likely picks from FA compensation and trades involving Gysberts, Martin, Bate, Cook et al.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
