This coming from a team that has only had 2 top 10 draft picks since 2000. And we continue salivating at our next crop of top draft picks and still flounder at the bottom. Not just culture but organisation. We have been run by a bunch of F%$&wits for too long.

I heard one of the commentators say there were only 4 members of the 2005 premiership team playing tonight. They've managed to completely rebuild their side and have only missed the finals once in the process. Incredible.

For all the complaints about salary cap concessions (are they still there?) it is truly amazing what they have done.

I heard ?Tadhg Kenelly talking last night about the "no [censored] policy" - if you have an ego, leave it at the door on arrival, or ship out. I too was thinking of #12&22 in particular and how they would either be transformed into stars, or disappear.

They have an uncanny ability to take rejected players from other clubs and transform them. How do they do it? It must be a lot more than money.

Salary cap!

Is that salary Crap?

Nothing to do with it they are a real team who play and win as a team simple as that

This team is truly battled hardened . Look at the the quality of the opposition in there last five games. Pies at home, Hawks away, Cats away, Crows away, Pies home.

They are certainly up for the contest. Don't expect them surrender without areal crack.

They have a great culture, brilliant recruiting and drafting but they also have about $800,000 more to spend on players. That's basically a Ryan O'Keefe and a Josh Kennedy extra. Therefore they should be good.

No only that, they have lost 2 of the best coaches in AFL (Roos & Lyons) and their fitness guru (Dave Misson) since 2005. Awesome perfomance for a Club in any sporting code. This Club has earnt the right to demand RESPECT. Not that they would they are very humble.

Didn't think I would feel like this but will be barracking for the swannies/bloods next Sat.

Reakon being out of the AFL media glare helps also.

Less Hollywood BS.

A severely underrated variable.

If Voss was coaching a Melbourne team, he would've been sacked 2 years ago.

Go Hawks send this Sydney mob back where they belong without the cup.

I am Brown and Gold for the next 6 days

Thats a yuck and an extremely disgusting post!!

Pee and poo can get out, they are the new collingwood. I hope they lose by a point after leading all day and buddy does both knee's while handballing

Hawthorn were our biggest nightmare in the 80s - can't stand them!

This is what I want to see happen.

1. Franklin kicks 1.7 and 3 out of bounds on the full.

2. He limits staring at himself on the big screen to 32 times max.

3. Clarko gets fined for putting holes in the wall and punching up a computer.

4. Cyril tries to chase down Jetta and does a hammy.

5. Kennedy wins the medal for BOG.

6. LRT kicks four.

If you've ever had to sit next to Hawks fans you'd understand why everyone should barrack for the Swans.

Round 22 at the G they were abusing their own team for not winning by enough.

Saturday they were calling for Buddy to be dropped....until he kicked the goal that seemed to seal it of course, then they just whined about the umpires.

I think they honestly believe that the games are won by supporters, not the players.

Having said that I confess to admiring Gibson, Sewell and Mitchell, while Buddy and Cyril are seriously exciting.

hi hyl,

How dare you describe my boys in that way

You are an example of the riff raff that comprises your last placed club.

"We're a happy team at Hawthorn

We're the Mighty Fighting Hawks.

We love our Club, and we play to win,

Riding the bumps with a grin (at Hawthorn).

Come what may, you'll find us striving

Team work is the thing that talks,

One for all and all for one

Is the way we play at Hawthorn.

We are the Mighty Fighting Hawks."

Don't cry Jonesie

We will be up there in about 7 or 8 years time

Your memory is better than mine

The only victory I can remember was back around 2004 when Neita was at full forward and Hawthorn were truely hopeless.

From memory it was just before AC took over or it may have been his first year.

Other than that they seem to have belted us every year for decades

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
