If he wants to play for MFC and MFC want him, surely they can negotiate a contract and agree that he will be taken at pick 3 in the PSD.

It seems quite logical.

Never seen him play btw. He could be black for all I know?

What. The. [censored]???

The question mark at the end really tops that one off. Ron Burgundy meets Bruce Ruxton.

Could have been guaranteed safe passage to Melbourne; elects for the draft - I blame these tanking allegations!

First hit in what could be a string of hits we may now receive thanks to our freshly tarnished rep.

When we find this rat/s we must for the sake of our pride and reputation exterminate it/them. Metaphorically, of course.

What's the source for that statement?

I thought it was only possible for him to go into the national draft if Port Adelaide delisted him at the second list lodgement. There's no indication they will do that at this stage and, even if they did, he's no sure thing to get to a favoured destination in Melbourne by going into the national draft. On the other hand, the tanking allegations, the ongoing inquiry and the adverse publicity in the media would not be doing any good for our cause.

Box seat!

Seriously, the ND is too much of a lottery - he could end up anywhere.

Come on Ben, do the smart thing...

I'm not sure but I still think the question of whether he can go into either the ND or the PSD depends first on when Port Adelaide delists him. If they don't do it until the final list lodgement (i.e after the national draft), he doesn't have much of a choice.

The other item of concern would have to be on his disposal and decision making which is questioned in the article. I haven't really noticed him in any of his games so I don't know but if it's as bad as painted here, I'm not that sure the club would go for him. Of course, they said the same about Andrew Swallow back in the day when he was a draft hopeful and he drifted down the draft rankings as a result, yet he worked on that aspect of his game and has become a top player for the Roos.

His disposal & decision-making IS questioned in the article, but they were meant to be his strengths prior to drafting.

Would you put a lot of faith in a journalist to get the facts right in this case?

Port were trying to talk him into staying for a reason.

I'm a firm believer that the change in the speed of the game between junior and AFL levels is vast, and it often takes a while for the initial adjustment period.

Especially for players with those strengths.

I would be on the phone to Connors and Port to get him to come to us. If he goes in the PSD he is just about a certainty as Tippett goes to GWS and GC may well opt out with a full list.

Port are going to get Jurrah for nothing and don't want North to do the same to them, after intransigent negotiating during trade period.

He would be a great get for us and we can take out the uncertainty for him as I am sure another Vic club will grab him in the ND before North.

Unless we have a much better prospect I would go hard. We need mids.

Why do we want him and what role would he fill that we don't have covered? Or do DL's want him just because he is out there?

I want him because he'll be free, he has a lot talent, is young and will probably be a lot better than anyone else available in the PSD.

He hasn't been delisted remember - he is walking out on Port because he wants to get home.

According to Patrick Keane's twitter -

"As Jacobs delisted himself from the Port Adelaide list, he does not qualify as a free agent, and can be selected by any club at the Draft."

Presumably, this means that its possible for an uncontracted player doesn't have to wait to be delisted.

Doubt he'll end up at North but we won't get him.

Getting the feeling we are not interested. Unless there is a bit of quiet backroom work going on he will not be a Demon.

i dont care what anyone says.. this boy should come to Melbourne.. make a too good to refuse offer and get him in..

would be great off the halfback line

I don't think he deserves to play in our backline compared to who we have now!

How many games have you watched him play?

probably most of the games he played. I notice him also because my brother used to go to school with him at BGS and Whopper also.

i also dont miss matches, i watch all replays of everything/

I'm not sure, but I think he has already committed to the National Draft.

Unfortunate, but there must be another player out there just as good.

Posted

do you think we shouild be going to pick him up?

or do you reckon well miss our chance?

Grimseyisgod - I don't know if your question is in relation to Jacobs or my last comment.

I reckon it'd be great if we could get Jacobs. Doesn't look likely though.

As for Dyson, my last comment was a bit tongue in cheek - but having read 20 pages about him on Bomber Blitz, given our needs he seems a absolute no brainer selection for us at the equivalent of pick 70 (ie, overlook that pick and get him in the pre-season draft).

He's quick, has elite disposal, a good attitude and is (finally) starting to win his own ball. Can't believe he's been cut by the Dons.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
