Harrington just told Trade radio that he is positive a deal will be done with GWS re Hogan....

I'd assume this means that Dawes will go to the Bulldogs or Crows.

Dawes has said he doesnt want to move interstate as he has study here in melbourne

plus if we get pick 20 back from GWS as part of the deal we could use that

If they want both pick 3 and 13 I would say "Thats cool, we'll use pick 3 on Toumpas and 13 on Dawes"

I would be happy with Toumpas, Viney and Wines in midfield with Dawes to fill a gap for a few years until we can find the next Hogan which is attainable

That would be fine too. I would be unhappy about missing out on Hogan but the whole point of the exercise for me is that we don't get screwed, and I now believe we won't.

All we can go by is the price for MD1 has been set and we now know what the appropriate remuneration is for MD2- (a hint- it's less than 2 picks in the top 15)

That GWS 2nd round pick has gone to the Saints so this is no longer feasible. (The pick 20 part)

Only a blindside will result in us not getting Hogan. If both Sos & Harrington are positive, it looks like they might just be waiting for a few deals e.g. Dawes/Ray etc to fall into place before committing.

Great day for the MFC though - probably the best I've felt since we belted Sydney a few season ago!

Stuff it, I've made up my mind-

They either take #3 for Hogan and nothing else- or we just take Grundy with #3 and trade Martin for Dawes.

How do you like them apples?

How about 3 for Hogan and Jed Anderson who GWS control?

TWR just said can't use pick 4 for MD because it's a compo pick but this would almost certainly have to be wrong. Can't use it for FS but why would there be any restrictions on trades? Particularly since there's been rumours of Dogs using their compo pick (pick 6).

Nope. They traded pick 24 (2nd round) to St. Kilda. Pick 20 (compo pick from Adelaide traded back to them last year) is still there to be used.

If GWS now have pick 12 as well, they must be willing to trade away a few picks later in the draft as they cant have all these players come onto their list.

What picks do they have left to give away - anything that we can demand if they are hell bent on getting a certain player at #3.

God dam GWS have alot to play with. Thanks for the correction. Good to hear pick 20 still in play.

Correct beat me too it,

Pick 24 is the first second round pick,

Pick 20 is the one tied to Adelaides finishing position.

ALL OURS :)

I'm resigned too missing out on Grundy! I don't think he is in MFC plans. I think he may go Pick 2.

I would trade Pick 4 & a player for Hogan. If we pass on Hogan, I'm still hopeful of Grundy at 3.

I can see Hogan a Dee though!

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
