Watching the casey game yesterday i thought these guys showed that they have enourmous upside and will be very good players for the melbourne football club in years to come. Sheehan actually reminds me of tom mcdonald with his run and carry but he actually has a bit of polish with his kicking. i hope he hits the ground running for pre season and put on a bit of bulk because he sure can play!

Fitzy too me is a must keep! could not believe how quick he is! has kick 30 goals in the VFL which is a really good effort for a bloke that was pretty unco when he came to the club. if he can polish up his kicking just a tad he could be a force at this club along with clark. i also think he looks alot bigger in the upper body and will fill out in the next two years. i think its an amazing job to come back into the form he is after his illness this year. to be honest i had doubts about him but he has proved me wrong! another that will benefit with a strong pre season behind him. should play next week aswell.

Much praise has been given to Fitzpatrick for learning general coordination. I don't have a great deal of faith in such a project player. May be our LRT but don't see him setting the world on fire any time soon.

Sheahan was a fantastic junior and will bolster our excellent backline. I'm a big fan and hopefully he makes his debut next year.

Surprising isn't it with the big blokes, looking useless one minute, then maturing.

It shows that we shouldn't be too hasty with the talls like Jamar, Spencer, Fitz, Gawn, & Martin.

I too have noticed that Fitz is filling out more and still kept his speed. Boy he was skinny when he came to us. Kicking can be iffy at times. If he has a big pre season, builds up his fitness and works on his kicking, we may see the start of something really good in 2013. Good on him.

I'm very happy with Fitz down forward. If we don't land cloke I wouldn't mind seeing Fitz and Clark as our forwards next year. Fitz has pace for his size and that is his strength. If he is fit he can run his larger opponents into the ground I don't know if he is much of a ruckmen though

Fitzy and Sheehan were very handy yeasterday against fairly loose checking players.

Is Troy Cook the blonde full-back?-He wasn't as awful as people make out.

There is some talent emerging in the seconds.

The Tynans were useful also.

He seems to get good hit out numbers when in the ruck at Casey, though not too sure about effectiveness.

Sorry Davis-I thought he had reasonable ability?

I expect Davis will be delisted. I can't see where he fits in the big picture, especially with Tom McDonald coming on in leaps and bounds and the expectation that one of Joel Macdonald or Lynden Dunn will be kept as a full bodied defender.

The concern I have with Fitzpatrick is the same that I have with McDonald in that they both have flawed kicking actions, in particular the ball drop. By having such a poor ball drop automatically reduces the probability that they will execute good skills.

These two need to go back to basics and fix this otherwise they will stagnate like Bate has with his poor technique.

How does a player get to top level football with such poor ball drops? Seems amazing that some players still drop the ball from chest height. Even good players like Cameron Bruce had this issue.

I wonder how "correctable" it is when you've probably been dropping the ball like that since under 8s. Seems weird that if it was fixable, it wouldn't have been picked up by someone and fixed.

Fair go. The kid's been really good this year apart from a few down days in the middle of the season. If we give up on young blokes like hime, Cook and even Gysberts it suggests to me that the football department have little faith in their own ability to develop players.

Fair enough Davis doesn't fit big picture but what is the point of JMac or Dunn.

I prefer Troy Davis over those two any day.

Sheahan is an interesting prospect. Looks like a player but in the 2 games i've seen him, he has played a good one and played a stinker played out the game. Don't know which is the real Jai.

Well, I reckon TMac will go forward, as did Neitz...

Davis is a keeper. Needs work, as they all do.

Experience? Neeld has been playing Dunn all year when I wouldn't have, so I dunno. Ask the coach.

It says to me that we can't keep everyone and we've got a lot of delisting to do this year. You can't keep all three of Macdonald, Dunn and Davis and on this occasion I believe the coach will choose the young player for the bullet due to his obvious preference for developed players. Davis may develop in to a fine AFL player if given the chance, but I don't think any decision to cut his time short would ever come back to hurt us.

Jack F has all the athleticism that one loves to see. Sorry for not naming names but a developmental coach who has been involved with both Buddy F and Fitz stated he believed Fitz was better at a slightly younger age. Buddy's kicking action aint perfect either.

I haven't seen him but have watched the reports and stats when available of Jai S and look forward to his development. Plenty more positive games than not.

Davis is far to young to get rid of

Fitzy has impressed me on the few times I saw him at Casey this year. I was not a fan before this year. But he has disappointed a little when given his chances at AFL level. I hope he is given plenty more chances to show the kind of form he is developing in the Scorps.

Don't know enough about Jai to comment but I like what I hear.

Ive seen Davis play a few times and he looked ok to me. Bigger bodied than many of the up-and-comers on our list.

Jai you rarely hear about on these forums and it surprises me because he has shown a bit at Casey.

Davis had a great pre-season cup earlier this year, very good one on one. He's probably still only 19-20 yrs old. Think he'll be good or at least he'll have some trade value if he's good bad theres no room in the team. Plenty of clubs needing KPB.

Posted

Davis is a poor decision maker and miskicks too often for my liking. Against Bendigo he kicked it to opposition forwards 5 times. In another game (can't remember which) his handballs resulted in 3 opposition goals. Delist for mine.

Cook was back in the Twos again. Pretty tough to see when Tom Lynch kicked 4 yesterday.

You do understand that Lynch was taken before our first pick that year, right? That being said, yes, it's hard to watch knowing that he almost made it to our pick. Would have loved him on our side.

Chris Dawes is no natural footballer so could be some merit in this

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
