Trade Sylvia - just do it

Horse [censored]. Has been one of our best in the second half of the year, and although he was ordinary today, there are plenty in the gun before him. Saying that, if a club threw a first rounder at him you would take it, but it ain't going to happen.

Has to go before his lazy attitude rubs off on the young players. Should be showing leadership on field, when really he offers nothing like it.

I think we could get a mid second rounder for him.

Sort of bloke, if you traded would star at another club. Has all the tools. Gets marked too hard by most Dee supporters.

I agree but he isn't doing it here and has had far too long to prove himself.

Take what we can get and get rid of him... you can't win a premiership with senior players like Sylvia.

High tackle counts (without winning the ball yourself) often can mean you're second/third to the footy, reactive and lazy.

More of the same from Sylvia. Please club heirarchy put us all out of our misery and move this guy on.

But also you have to look a half forward with a team that can't hit the side of a barn would be hard. One example when Blease tried a 3 metre handball and missed him by a metre.

And Melbourne have been flying these last 8 weeks.

Colin continues to be an enigma, and under performed.

Gary Ablett at GC our Colin Sylvia is not.

Kicked a very unimportant goal today but said some nice things about Brad Green.

Give him an early holiday in Thailand and let him come back for next year .

Go Col !

P.S-Take it easy .

I agree dee-tox! Sylvia had more disposals than 6 dees, & same as 2, laid 8 tackles, 2 more than anyone else. Not a great day for him but let's not have him drawn & quartered, he's still one of our best over the past 8 games or so.

Does anyone here really know for sure whether his past form lapses are due to attitude or injury, because his injuries seem to be clearing up & he's starting to produce again.

Can anyone name one player on our list who has more elite skills than Col shows on a good day?!

IMO, players who perform well in under performing teams are worth more than front runners who perform when there team are on top.

And of course he is not Gary Ablett, and the quicker Melbourne fans realise he is no superstar and just a solid footballer the better for all involved.

Trade him. Take out his games against teams in the bottom 4 and he's clearly no good. Would probably dominate in a team with quality mids.

Again, I think that is horse sh*t. There are many players on our list who only perform against rubbish teams when we are winning, and I distinctly remember Sylvia playing some decent games against some good teams, 3 votes when we were pumped by Hawthorn spring to mind. I am not saying he is a world beater, just saying he is marked far more harshly on here than others who seem to go under the radar, like a Garland.

What a joke of a thread. Is he frustrating at times? Yes. Would he be a good player in a side that can kick? Definitely.

Give him time next year with bigger bodies around him and better delivery and Col will look a lot better.

Honestly some on D'Land think gun players abound at other clubs. You know what's out there? Joel Mac and James Sellar.

People need to realise calls for Sylvia to be traded aren't because he is a bad player- but because he is one of only a few in our team with some trade value and is the type of player that would suit a team in their window now- he is a cherry on-top kind of player and where we're at now is we need a consistant blue collar worker.

I'm really torn with Col, I see the talent just don't know how to get it out consistantly. Maybe a better midfield around him would help. Hope we draft Wines!

In simple terms, despite any efforts of late and many lamnetable ones of early I just dont hink the will ever be the player some seem to think he might be. We are perpetually waiting for him to have 'that' break out season. He has some good games, he has some great moments but for all his talent the real return for the club willbe in whatever he player we trade for him gives us. Im sorry thats all Col is worth in my view.

He has the talent to be a genuine A grade Star. He isnt. The defence rests

Understandable, but I don't think we would get much for him. I wouldn't part with him for a second round pick in what by that stage of the draft, is a massive lottery.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
