Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Stages of Grief - where are you?

Recommended Posts

Stage 6: Secretly admiring the weekly grunt of another team and wishing yours was even a tiny bit like it: GFC, and I don't mean greater financial calamity. How has Geelong mopped up with likes of Christensen, Menzel, Duncan, Vardy, Smedts etc whilst all our shiny new warhorses have turning circles like 1968 Austin 1800's?

Thought you liked Austin 1800's. Honest car! Those guys you mention fit into a coherent game plan/style. I could name 6 ordinary guys running around for Melbourne now that would of done much better at Geelong. Watts would be an absolute star at Geelong alongside Hawkins and with Chappie and Stevie J putting it right out there in front of him. Scott is a motivator as well! It's more the culture the guys have walked into and are working in. IMO Neeld is extremely uninspiring type of guy and not the sought to share your morning Muesli with.

5. And wondering what Brock will say when not at CarlTANK any more (remember the Kreuzer cup macca) - this bloke spent a lot of the summer lying on his mother's couch drinking [censored]!

Well that's not necessarily a bad thing? The man's got his Family priorities sorted.

Numb!

I've been numb since 1987. And since our Grand Final pummeling in the late 80's.

And prior Ive been Numb since the late 60's.

The only difference from time to time, was when we had hope from some Great White Hope?

I had hope when Barassi arrived, even tho I expected a quicker turnaround. I was Naive. But I saw how long it takes to create the Clubs self belief. It's a long road.

Barassi plan did work but he had to leave with the job 80% done. But the dirty work was accomplished.

I had hope again when Balmy arrived, but was mistaken.

I had hope again when ND arrived but again was mistaken in my Naivety.

Since toward the eND of that reign, (around 2005/6) I began to really question everything that was going on around the club starting with the players. The culture was total self protectionist.

I wanted change & we got it. The Mess from all levels of the club thru the late '90's, - Mid 000's was a disgrace & we are still cleaning it up. We lost the best shining light thru Natures Fury.

Now after the things I've learned, I can finally see we are taking the hard decisions, To clean our act up re Culture, & hardness & composed skills under the heat of battle.

Early days yet, but IMO we will clear the bad attitudes out, hopefully all of it this year, & then wipe away the cobwebs thru Pre-Season training.

We have a committed Coach with his support staff, who I can see are determined to make a clear path to a Real Contested brand of footy.

This is the only basis of football for finals.

After the foundations are fortified comes the finishing touches..

Next year has to be a real red hot go at winning the hard ball, chasing, tackling, & Playing for One Another.

The Foundation stones with a real value system, that will grow into a Culture.

hahaha....

Ahem.

Poor taste mate. Poor form.

Sorry mate, knew it was still pretty fresh, thought I'd try it out. No offence to those victims or their families who would be going through the various stages of grief mentioned in this thread. It shows how passionate most Melbourne supporters are on here, but also shows that life is too short for us to hold grudges and beat ourselves up over things we can't control.

Always on the roundabout

Dland provides the ride

Did like the seebohm mention

Yeah 2nd in the world! not a bad spot. Perhaps we do need to align some of our players performance with that standard but more importantly disappointed at not being No1.

I'm at the last stage possible.... like a video game..

Where you have loaded up with all the best possible in game attributes...(In our case draft picks & Coaches) and just continuously stuff it up against the best bad guys (Opposition) because they have way too much attributes already!

Eventually you cannot take being beaten anymore and you switch it off. In this case the Tv stays off so I dont get angry watching absolute garbage plays or poor skills.

ATM its beyond repair for me.

However...I do love this club and they have given me some awesome times with my best mate and Dad...

I have faced enormous ethical dilemmas since two of my three married children have married outside the faith

( the third lives in Wales U.K. so doesn't really count if she barracks for Wales in the rugby)

Now I have to say that while I don"t believe in mixed marriages, this is a predicament that arguably calls for the wisdom of Solomon and while not claiming quite that level of achievment I would like to share some life experience perhaps to help others gain some vision of the road over the horizon.

The most challenging situation arises when one considers what one should do when negotiating with someone who comes into one's family , does not share or understand the pain and commitment of loyalty to the MFC and who barracks for a team that relatively speaking ( - no pun intended) wins often and easily - in my case Hawthorn x 2

When grandchildren come along : what is one to say?

Can or should one demand or recommend allegiance to the Dees to those who share flesh and blood?

Well ......

my position is that I have extracted a blood oath from the interpolaters that the progeny are to barrack for whichsoever team is higher on the ladder at the time.

Not looking especially flash at the current time, is it?

However the greater good may be the avoidance of emotional scarring and a lifetime of pain.

but who knows?

Perhaps things may change?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
