Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Chris Judd's Night of Reckoning - Guilty (4 weeks)

Looking forward to Judd's next party trick- some kind of anal-play. Probably.

You mean the John Hopoate "date" rape technique (patent pending)?

I know it won't be very popular here but I think 4 weeks is about right. A precedent is now set.

BUT I think 4 weeks for Ziebell is very tough. When you watch it in real time you realize he had 1/10th of a second to decide what to do. If he doesn't go he's Josh Hunt from a few rounds back when everyone called him soft.

It feels like too much emphasis is put on slow motion footage and not enough common sense is used by people who've played the game.

Thats why Judd's was ordinary. It was premeditated. You don't just accidently end up in the situation he did.

Agree, 4 weeks for Judd is about right.

The Ziebell incident is a complete joke. Even in the slow-mo footage, you can't exactly tell who got their hand on the footy first. Considering it's been just a week since Wellingham copped 3 for clearly going the man and smashing

Kade Simpsons jaw, the system has once again proven to be inconsistent and unpredictable.

Seems that yet again Carlton (with AFL approval, it would seem) are aiming to whitewash bad behaviour by one of their stars, instead of holding them to account for it. You would think that both bodies would have learned from the rolling debacle that was Fev that bad behaviour needs to be confronted head-on, and responsibility admitted. But they haven't learned a thing.

There were a couple of dubious and unnecessary attempts to soften the blow - being instructed to not take his previous record into account, and not to apply a 30% loading. For Judd, who's had so much trouble with his own shoulders, to do this intentionally to another player who's had shoulder problems, it's hard to interpret it in any other way as a desire to inflict serious injury.

Ignoring the negative publicity it's generated, is this penalty enough to deter the same player from offending in the future? I'd doubt it. If we're back here again in another 2 or 3 years, Carlton and the AFL will only have themselves to blame.

And one can't escape the niggling feeling that struggling clubs such as North are again treated more harshly by the MRP & Tribunal than power clubs like Carlton. What would the outcome have been if it were the other way round, and it was Judd's shoulder that was subluxed by the intentional action of an opposing player?

Absolutely. I often think that the success of the tribunal should be evaluated on how effectively could you show 2 similar incidents to someone that's never seen the game before and have them understand why one is worse than the other. In the Wellingham vs. Ziebell case it would be impossible to reach the same conclusion as the MRP. One appears deliberate and callous, while the other appears to happen in the play and without another alternative for the offending player.

Judds was a malicious act premeditated. Its unconcionable really that any player would act in that way. Totally outside the spirit of the game and brings the game itself into disrepute .

Judd got off very lightly in my view. I have my suspicion half the reason the AFL jumped on it so quickly was to contain it and mitigate the punishment. Possibly the MRP might have dealt with it more harshly but we'll never know now.

Judd should change his ambassadorial role from Visy to PAL !!!

I'm content with the 4 weeks and the spanner in the works it produces for the Blues.

I almost changed my alias to John Hopoate just so I could 'Like This'.

Personally I believe Judd. He made a mistake and deserves weeks but he did not do this with the pre-meditated intention to injure. It was sloppy not intentional. In my view this is a terrible case of trial by media. 2 weeks is about right, 4 weeks is a joke. There are too many people on this site who are still up-set for him not coming to Melbourne and too many people who have the most disgusting of Australian traits..... tall poppy syndrome.

People reckon Judd's arse is kissed non-stop, but the moment he does something wrong, people say he's been treated unfairly by the media? Surely it's one or the other.

Appeal.. surely not against such a lenient sentence.

I get annoyed about his his continued use of the royal "we" in his statements to the press/media.

You did the crime Juddy ...not the football club.

We are not amused.

I like the other Australian trait.

You can't [censored] a bullshitter. That's what Juddy has tried on - again.

Gotta disagree with you.

The sentence stacks up with others that the tribunal are handing out.

The act was stupid and dangerous.

Tall Poppy syndrome? Don't think so!

He understands how to disarm ( npi ) someone and thats his m.o. he likes to take cheap shots when they present and I bet London to a brick there are many more instances that simply go un-noticed.

Absolute rubbish.

As someone said earlier, Judd - a man with a long history of shoulder problems - knew exactly what he was doing. Staring down at an immobilized player with heavy shoulder strapping, he pulled the arm back and to the side with malicious intent. An indefensible dog's act.

Nothing to do with tall poppy syndrome whatsoever. That's laughable.

Didn't he also throw a blind elbow into Pavlich's face that went unpunished? Broke his nose I'm pretty sure leaving Pav with blood streaming from his face.

I'll agree with the other dozen or so posters who have said "rubbish".He admits his wrong doing himself and has admitted he didn't know why he did it. It was very sloppy and there is no precedent. What is interesting is Connors outburst this morning regarding Fraser and Anderson. Perhaps you may shed some light on that given your acquaintance with Connors.Having a go at posters hung up about him not coming to Melbourne in this instance is a bit of bulltish on your part.edit: Considering the tribunal didn't take on board his loading from priors, he is lucky he didn't get 7 weeks. Four weeks is about right.

I would not care BB

I am tired of choir boys

My main requirement is "are they good footballers"?

The rest is far less important to me.

I am so sick of losing.

Judd can come to the MFC next week for mine I do not care what the football world thinks of the MFC.

I live for the day they all hate us because we win at all costs and take no prisoners.

sorry Old.. His CAN NOT be the example we are trying to set for the culture going forward for our club. Your view dare I say reaks of desperation for success and whilst Ive probably been waiting just as long as you I wont have it.

There has to be some standards in society otherwise anarchy rules. Those held up to be role models can not be these thuggish type. Not for me. I want a flag just as much as the next bloke but theres a line. Football is NOT exempt from the basics of common decency that exist elsewhere in life.

Id rather our club eshewed the lowlife clandestine dog-act vulgaity that is the likes of Judd and embrace more the likes of Landy, still got his just deserts without foregoing sportsmanship and decency.

We are going to disagree on this one BB.

Winning is now the only thing for me I have sucked the sour taste of defeat for too long

Have a good night mate!

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
