Rent - a - Crowd

Did anyone see the GWS rent - a - crowd behind the goals and the Ponsford end? If these guys weren't street performers paid to come and support the Giants I'll go HEY !!! Pretty pathetic when you have to pay people to dress up as monks and dance around under the false pretence of genuine support.

Pathetic plastic club with rent-a-crowd support. The AFL should be embarressed,

I agree, are they all Hari Krishna types in Western Sydney? or Monks? or just plain freaks...?

What a load of BS...clearly they are not genuine supporters...when you are getting smashed it doesnt matter what team you are...generally as a rule you would sit down & shut up because

A: your crap

B:you cant stand watching crap

C: Losing supporters dont want attention or they will get more unwanted attention from hecklers!

Yes GWS,we see through your bs image. Plastic is a great description.

To be fair the AFL gave tickets to anyone that wanted them for this game. Didn't you get the email offer?

No, forward it please. I'd be interested to know why the AFL give away what I pay for?

I like how it's ok to dress up as a Buddhist and make a [censored] of yourself. Next time show up in blackface and see what happens.

On a slightly related topic, did anyone notice Melbourne fans getting a pay in the Age match review for the second game in a row.

Last time it was for cheering the injury to slimy Didak (if we're not too soft, we're too hard apparently). This time it was for "staying away" on "a nice winter's Sunday".

Thanks, Martin Blake -- whoever you are. Forecast all week was for showers and 13, it's 16th v 17th and the visiting team has NO supporters whatsoever, we're playing in the second-worst timeslot known to man with the match finishing in darkness on a school night, it's live on free-to-air TV ... I was gobsmacked that we pulled 20,000.

On the opposite page there's a report on North v Adelaide. North still in finals contention, Adelaide playing for top spot, significant travelling support, game played indoors ... crowd: 18,866. Oddly, no mention of North fans staying away.

I can always use that image of the monks to remind myself in the future that my team may be getting flogged, but at least I don't look like that.

AAHHH come on ....It was a bit of fun......and it's better to show them enjoying themselves than sitting doing nothing when their team kicks a goal.....Lighten up...

I don't really 'get' the joke either.

I mean, is the joke that buddhists and/or hare krishna's wear orange?

That's not a joke people. A colour is not a joke.

Comedy is tough, but it's like learning a language - if you don't know what the hell you are doing, you will make a fool of yourself. Leave it to the experts.

I thought they had turned up expecting a one-day cricket match... surprised none of them had a half a watermelon stuck on their head.

They did, but Phil Scully ate them.

...and the watermelon.

Edit: 2nd punchline for that extra bit of comedy in your day.

Nah, I'm pretty sure watermelon would be safe around Phil... he looks like a strictly meat and potatoes guy to me.

so by your logic we should have spent the last 5 years staying home with the curtains drawn waiting until we started winning games? funny, sounds to me to describe the polar opposite of a supporter

comedy costumes and banner bearers of verified appeal but dubious authenticity aside, good on 'em for getting showing a bit of resolve

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
