Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Except for the part where Stanton is dominating games this season.

yes but 3 seasons ago, he was torching the ball and being smashed by Essendon Supporters.

Patience... i could be wrong but lets not hang the 22 year old who has had 3 interrupted preseasons out to dry, just as a decent fitness crew are putting muscle on him

Plenty worse than Morton today. He's having a crack, albeit with poor disposal at times. Good 1st qtr when all hell was breaking loose.

Hasn't exactly got too many others pushing him out of the side. Davey? No. Green? No. Bate? FFS no.

Neeld will hopefully persist with him. Only 22 yrs old. Will develop further with a full preseason and another 8kg of Misson muscle.

Fine, keep him, but leave him in Casey until he irons out all the chinks in his game. His turnovers cost us a critical moments. Fundamentally he is soft. Scared of shadows. No one will want him even if we decided to trade him, he is not in our best 22 and that says heaps.

the run down and shove he gave that forced a point from certain goal was inspiring and will be replayed after the game have no doubt.

Exactly. That was a brilliant piece of play from a player with more heart to run than most people. There's more than one kind of brave.

Neeld looked like a hater after CM got the ball and copped a whack ,then decided to run on to is non-existent left and ruin our momentum with another turnover .

I'm gong to hate him until he stops doing dumb things. He is too easily put off ,distracted ,forced into error .

Having said that , he did win a few of his own balls today and is getting better in some areas.

I hate that it takes so long for him to get it .

I hate the expression "hater"

I hate Americanisms being brought into our culture

I hate Collingwood

I hate the world after they beat us.

Yep -I'm a hater.

I've been anti letting him get away with soft efforts, & cheap kicks from the kickouts since his first year. I've wanted him dropped to the VFL since in 2009, & to harden him up, & hurry him up. Stop the plodding.

Well I didn't see more than a few snippets, as I was working today, But i saw him with the footy put oj a turn of speed & a fade to avoid the tackler. He had some speed & he showed some urgency. It's not much for me to go on as i didn't see much at all of the game,,, But I can see that he is trying to change, & change is Happening.

He is contracted till 2013, & as he's worth nothing atmo,,, after all this time wanting him gone,,,, I now want to give him next year to show how much he can change & Improve.

6 pre-seasons into his career he's still built like Delta Goodrem. ??? Not quite, but IF he turns into her, we better keep him/her for a water boy?

On the other hand ... AFL footy is a hard, tough, bruising, brutal sport.

Therein lyeth the problem. And it 'aint going to change in a hurry.

Get angry Cale.

And how many years does Stanton have on Morton? I'd say more than a few!

Four. :)

Not disputing that and understand why the comparison is being made, but Stanton is pushing for AA selection this year. Just keeping things in perspective.

If nothing else, this thread weeds out those who have no idea about what's going on the field and those who are prone to hyperbole.

Morton is a very outside player who fumbles under pressure and has average acceleration and ordinary foot skills. I am amazed how so many see so much potential in him.

It amazes me that ^ this is all some people see in him.

Open your eyes.

The problem with Morton it we picked him up at #4. if we hadn't this would be a non-issue.

So lets reassess;

He hasn't been a top draft pick, but we have him, if we get rid of him then we gain nothing. Currently he is actually playing well. Yes he does butcher the ball at times, but the reason why we get so frustrated IS because he was pick #4. If we got him at #25/30+ we would be talking about the bargain we got.

He is borderline in our best 22. (i Believe he can cement that spot with another pre-season and confidence)

We must keep him until;

1) he asks to be traded

2) we can get a good deal for him (bearing in mind he WILL improve)

3) he isn't in our best 22

NO.

I will not tolerate butchering the ball by any player when there is no pressure....i don't give a flying F&*( what draft pick they were.

It kills the team spirit...we all felt it.

It amazes me that you ^ continue to think that your opinion is all that matters and you're always right.

Open your mind.

It's extraordinary isn't it?

An openness to other's opinions and not assuming everyone who holds one contrary to your own is an idiot. That's something you should have instilled in you well before adulthood.

I'm still glad he's a poster here though.

So many black & white folk here that you could be supporting the Pies.

He has improved this year. That is acknowledged.

He played a very average game today, and deserves a whack.

It doesn't mean we hate him, never believed in him, always wrote him off, yada yada, but he is accountable for his performance, and I, like others here, weren't happy with it. It's called analysis. But please, stuff me in a pigeon hole.

Good luck winning a game with about 6 players on the ground

Morton burnt it a few times today, not on his own in that regard mind you, and yes a couple were horrid skill errors. Just like our best field kick Watts, who gifted Didak a shot at goal. Some of his turnovers come from having no option up the ground or running in support.

He does gut-run though and we need more like him who are prepared to spread, even when the lactic acid feels like its burning through your skin.

Reckon Cale will be ok

I'm open to others' opinions as long as they are intelligent and considered.

But generally I am found to be correct.

Ha! I've done my best to change my mind on this guy this year, but he keeps putting up games like today...

Ohhhhh but he's an "elite runner", and "outside player" with "silky skills"..... No. He's not ANYTHING.

See ya Morts.

What frustrates me even more then his (apparent) fear and lack of intensity is the fact that so many pump him up for his "silky skills", which all too often turn out to be "silly kills". As well, the cries "give him time"! He has had already over half the average AFL career in years - how much longer do we wait for a number #4 draft pick to take a game by the balls and FCS win it!?? You can't be serious.... And if you are, surely you can't be that conceited?

Why come here for discussion then if you're "always right"? Surely you can just sit on the couch in the dark and enjoy your own thoughts.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
