PPS I would just like to add that I hadn't noticed you spelt Schwarta in that fashion, and it wouldn't have bothered me anyway. I for one think that spelling is very important and don't know why it gets such bad press on these boards.

ok (edit) back to the drawing board:

"You say Schwarta, and I say Schworta,

you say Maloney, I say Moloney,

Maloney, Moloney,

Rigoni

"Ragoni"

Let's call the whole thing off

Let's call the whole thing off"

Apologies, George Gershwin and Norm Smith's curse

PS The Ox is patient.

Bush demon I think spelling is important.

It may be because it is I think my biggest failure in life.

I have improved over the years but I still make errors.

90% of my edits are because I notice a spelling error after I have posted.

The other 10% is grammer.

Oh how I would love to be able the spell well.

My saving grace in reason years is "spell check" ( which I cannot use on Demonland )

Try harder guys it is important

Good communication is I believe a corner stone of civilization

Here ends the sermon!

He pretty much nailed it for me.

And it is not a case of yet another media commentator giving an opinion, that's silly.

It is an opinion from someone who lived the MFC when it was nomadic with 3rd rate facilities and who well knows through injuries and personal mismanagement how opportunites can be wasted or taken away.

Pretty great that you didn't spell Rigoni's name correctly either time.

I'm in two minds about this.

On one hand I agree with the frustration show by all MFC supporters (both public and private figures) and think the laziness and sense of entitlement of the senior players is a legacy from prior coaches and administrations. I think the senior players need a big boot up their arse and a few (most?) of them should be on the chopping block at the end of the year.

On the other hand though (and something I've only really considered over the last couple of days) I think we have to bear in mind the training load the new FD is making the players go through where they are basically continuing to do pre-season work throughout the season in order to get their fitness levels up for 2013 and beyond. If they are doing heavy mid-week sessions when other clubs are resting and recuperating then I think it is no wonder that they look lacklustre and as though they are not trying on game day.

If they are training heavily I don't think this is a bad thing as we definitely have a legacy of lack of fitness with the playing group.

However if they are being bashed from pillar to post by all and sundry (including media, supporters and former players) and are getting belted on the field every week then I can see the players losing confidence in Neeld and the FD very shortly. Basically they are having their legs taken out from them by the FD and then left to cop all the flak.

I don't think there is a real answer as I think it is a necessary evil for the club to go through in order to get up to "elite" standards however having former players and supporters all sticking the boot in certainly won't do anything to help the situation.

Spot on Mighty Demon.

Ox not only nailed it - he was all over it.

He is a Demon fan like the rest of us. We all have aspirations for our team and it hurts when we witness the capitulations that we have had this year. The very least we can expect is that they play for their coaches and show endeavour. It's OK if they lose games because of inexperience or ability but we want and demand honesty in their performance. Our season is gone. What remains is an opportunity to see who really wants to play for this club into the future. Off to the McGoo's for those that don't.

It's time for our footballers who are running around like they are in the under 12's to be treated that way.

If I was coaching at half time I would have simply swapped the midfielders and the forwards. Why complain about Sylvia but do nothing about him. A couple of quarters at full back would be a start, and if it meant we could move Bartram from a position where the ball goes and hide him in the forward pocket like the dud kid in under 12's that would be a win as well.

Do we need a new thread every time someone voices their opinion?

By the way, who is David Schartz?

do we really need to highlight every time someone makes a spelling mistake?

The Ox was my favorite player as a boy ! If he stayed sound the football world wouldn't be lording Wayne Carey is the best ever it would have been the Ox !!

Agree with him 100% !! If I could pull on the red and blue jumper I'd run through a brick wall if I had to. We don't have to accept this !!

The Ox should address the players !! Id sure love to !!

Well said .... U hope the club is taking note of the goings on on demonland this week.

Personally Id prefer to see a new thread on the comments of people who actually played the game and who know people in the club or who have had an association with the club, than more illinformed 'sack the coach/administration' cycles, but that's just me. especially when that opinion is given with such passion.

People are so precious about surname spelling. If thats the best way to invalidate a comment then no wonder the outside world view MFC supporters as elitest.

Like I said he has said nothing new and its just fodder. And I dont think its a choice between rehashed criticism of the Club and sack the coach threads.

I am glad you are so enamored with the comments of a person whose name you cant spell Nrom Simth. Oops now there I go.

PS ... should be 'elitist'.

Doh LOL.

My response was in relation to his obvious frustration at the opportunities afforded others - do I get a warning point?

No just an education. Comments on his troubled past had nothing to do with his right to express a reasonable criticism of current players.

I for one think that spelling is very important and don't know why it gets such bad press on these boards.

When you want to grandstand on a person's comments the least you can do is get his name right. But I am glad you believe it is important.

Me too.

I'm posting this because there's no way this could be posted too often:

This is the post you replied to:

David had so many problems to overcome and he can't believe the opportunities some blokes have been given, considering his career was so cruelly curtailed.

I don't see that jumbo's post was necessarily about Schwarz's 'foibles', as you call them, since you could certainly argue that Schwarz had enough to overcome with his injuries and his Dad etc.

Even if Schwarz's 'foibles' were part of what jumbo was referring to I don't see that it was deriding Schwartz.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
