Morton is better than half the blokes we have in there at the moment.

At least he has a bit of run and good disposal.

Are you joking what has cale morton done over his career to justify that comment He is a serial underperformer who will just wither on the vine. At best good vintage bad fruit bad wine making and product management

Out Royal. Has anybody noticed that this guy is coaching poison. In 2010 we had a good developing backline coached by Sean Wellman. Fast track to 2011 and Royal takes over suddenly the backline leaks goals like a sieve. In 2010 we had a midfield that held a lot of promise. Fast track to 2012 and Royal is the Mid field coach and the mids are a pathetic rabble who are not competitive.

IMO we need more than 2 changes. We need fresh legs for next week. And we need hard bodies as well for contested footy. It'll be game on next week. Bruising affair against a desperate tiges.

No not Bennell. Any team that includes Bennell is declaring it's mediocrity. I always try to be pathetically optimistic about our players but Bennell is beyond even my optimism. The guy has had more chances than he deserves.

Changing the 22 is not going to solve the inherent, underlying problems at this football club.

Whichever 22 we pick, we are going to have the same lack of leadership, the same lack of skill, the same lack of speed, the same lack of fitness, the same inability to react under pressure, the same unresponsive coach, the same undersized midfield, the same lazy players, and the same two or three to whom too much is left.

Our list is utter tripe.

Green has quickly hit a post age 30 wall after his excellent 2010 season. His pace and reaction time has slowed alarmingly. It's sad , but he must finish the year with the Scorps.

We need runners.

The reality is that one of the challenges for Neeld and Misson is to develop players like Morton, Blease, Bennell. Strauss, Jurrah into match hardened AFL Footballers much like Malthouse and Buttifant turned the likes of Dale Thomas and Sharrod Wellingham into senior AFL footballers.

Starting point is run out of defence. We can't play Frawley, Rivers, Garland, Sellar, Tom McDonald and Joel MacDonald in the backline. Simply not enough run can be generated as of these only Frawley and Tom McDonald are capable of generating the required rebound run. Out go Garland and MacDonald. Garland has been poor this year and does not have the third man up or intercept marking ability of Rivers. Joel MacDonald simply does not have the decision making or disposal required by a modern defender.

So defence is...

Tall Defenders: Frawley, Tom McDonald with Sellar on bench

3rd tall: Rivers

Running Half Backs: Grimes, Strauss with Morton on bench

Small Back: Bartram with Bennell on bench

or

Bartram Frawley Rivers

Grimes McDonald Strauss

Hopefully Moloney, Sylvia, and Martin can come in this week.

I wouldn't mind seeing Morton coming back in either to see what he can do and I want Bate to start on the ground next week.

I guess it's a no brainer that Green will be dropped. I too think Bennel has had enough chances and should be let go, hell I would rather see Davey come back in the side then have Bennel in the side.

Agree whole heartedly with Royal.

OUT - Green, Bennell, Macdonald, Jamar, Sellar

IN - Couch, Moloney, Tynan, Tapscott, Martin

Possibly also Bail for Morton as well though Morton doesn't give me much hope. Moloney lucky to come back in but I think he deserves another chance considering his last couple of seasons.

Yeah -- I had similar thoughts regarding his tenure as defence coach, which seemed strange to me as an appointment and from the results. I had thought that his experience as a top mid may have qualified him for the job, but.......?

In fact does he have any coaching credits at all?

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
