On a side note, I'm going in tomorrow morning for another tattoo session on a grey/shaded sleeve... Only colour is a red 'n blue symbol on my inner forearm... I'd like to add in a permanent tribute to the great man and just wondered if anyone had any suggestions of a symbolic piece of art to forever honor the spirit of Big Jim... I'm not in anyway trying to hijack this thread, just would love to add a touch of the great man to this piece of work...

Love ya big guy :)

There is no better way to summarise Big Jim, than that of the words he lives by, "Whatever it takes". There is a reason his biography is so entitled, there is a reason why such a sign hangs up above the players race. These are the words Jim lives by, they are his mantra, his creed. You could do a lot worse, than inscribing Jim's words on yourself.

Whilst un-inked myself, i have long held the desire that when we finally win that [censored] thing, i'm gonna get a melbourne premiers tattoo along with Jim's creed written on my left forearm.

My stomach just turned over. Jim is the most inspirational person many of us know of, and the biggest fighter. The stuff of legends.

He's inspiration to everyone who has heard of him, and even more to the people who have him in their lives.

Stay strong, big fella. Although I've only ever met you once, I feel like you're a part of who I am.

GO DEES

My heart goes out to the man and his family. Keep fighting, mate. You're the most inspiring person of our age.

The news is still a shock (even after all the "bad" news we've heard before).... The great man has been an inspiration to so many people... Tears get fought back just at the thought of the battle ending... Although the fight still continues... Much love to family and friends of the Irish legend...

Could you get his signature? That won't have legal issues will it? Sorry for any ignorance I'm not really a tattoo person myself.

A simple, symbolic one... to go with a simple and symbolic image of a great man. The number 11?

This is awful. And I'm kind of angry if only that he never got to see an MFC flag, and that one of his last games he got to see was 186...

But then that reminds me that when he took over as president, we were in real, real trouble... and he must have quit recently safe in the knowledge that he played one of the biggest parts, maybe the single biggest in his club surviving. And that THAT'S an extraordinary triumph in itself. The pain he has endured in the last few years has been turned into inspiration for hundreds of thousands... and as demon lovers, we are the luckiest of those, becuase he belongs to us.

If he finally lets go (and part of me hopes he does, for his own sake) within the next 10 days... then look out Lions.

Safe travels Jim. And thankyou.

A true HERO and champion in every sense. Lets all pull together for this GREAT GREAT man and his Family at this time. Perhaps we can bring him through this yet again? Number 11 and 37 will always be remembered deep in our hearts either way. ROG Bangkok 19th of March 2012. Go JIm and Go Dees!! Worth noting Jim has put the Club in with the chance of achieving greatness. We need Jimmy to hang in to see it all unfurl.

It's so sad having to watch people you know and love have to go through and battle such a disgusting and unbiased disease like cancer. And it seems that it always happens to the people who deserve it the least. I.e Sean Wight, Jimmy and my mother at 48, who unfortunately succumbed to Brain cancer just over a month ago.

I can't even grasp how strong someone must be to have to go through something like this both physically, mentally and their emotional mindset.

Having met Jim whilst my mum was receiving treatment, He was very kind, taking time to chat with us about many subjects and it was quite inspirational, giving us hope that both he and my mum are both going to survive this. My mum couldn't after putting up one hell of a fight, but you must Jim. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Jim was at the commencement dinner last week and I had the privilege of shaking hands with him but unfortunately Jim had a very vacant look that suggested he won't be with us for much longer. Was a very sad occasion to see Jim in such a state but I am glad that Dad and I went and I had the chance to shake hands with one of my heroes. Much love and respect to his entire family including his sister who works tirelessly for the MFC and is one of the nicest people you could ever meet

There no losing in this battle, Jimmy Stynes is a winner regardless. It is past the point of willing Jimmy Stynes on. I am just praying for the best outcome for him and his family.

MFC struggles with identity and "standing for something". This man has given our footall club an identity and values on which it can stand for generations and I don't think that is overstated.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
