True, but their midfield sh*ts all over ours.

I'd give my left knee to have Martin, Cotchin and Delidio running around in our midfield. Sure beats having to resort to the likes of Bate. No offence to Bate.

They appear good on paper but we will cream them. Moloney is better than all of them .

But they drop away quickly after that, and a lot in the media have been seduced not just KB...as a side issue which one of the 3 would you take. Cotchin is the one for me but I wouldn't throw either of the other 2 back.

Guys,

Face it. We would kill for tiges midfield v ours. But the advatage of being a donut (nothing in the middle) in our case is that we can do something about it (viney + 2 high draft picks).

Tiges have a great midfield (but not much elsewhere except reiwoldt gun and a few others).

I think we are evenly poised now overall but we will be able to rectify our deficiencies eventually and they will find it more difficult.

Terrible waste of a good draft pick.

Agree-you would think Cameron and co.would not make a second mistake in a row,re Miller and now Maric.

very good point that you raise.Maloney in a forward pocket may be a great move.

Like when at MFC, he "did a few good things" last night, but, like when at MFC, not enough.

Wait and see before slashing wrists please.

I love Beamer, but Cotchin is a level above him already, and he's still young. Cotchin is better than anyone on our list at present. Last night he went head to head with Judd and won. Anyone who picks up 27 touches, 8 tackles, 2 goals, while going head to head with a superstar in Judd, and does all that trying to carry a losing team...is a star. I'm hoping Trengove gets to that level. If he does we're in for a treat!

One warm day does not a summer make. Cotchin is not at Beamer's level yet. He may be on the way - but you are listening to too much KB on 1116.

Cotchin reached Moloney's level last year and is about to put the afterburners on.

Yeah right ,

Dont believe the hype on it .Wait till you see our bloke.

I agree. Cotchin went past Beamer some time ago. I dont listen to KB at all

Just saw this and agree wholeheartedly.

Or an indictment on those responsible for coaching and developing young players at the club?

No its a bad draft pick. He has shown zip since he got to MEL. I have seen him in the AFL and VFL and I am puzzled why we spent pick 20 on him,

Even more surprised that Cameron picked up him up again at Richmond after he wasted a good pick at MEL.

Its as bizarre as Ratten and Riley offering a first round pick fro McLean.

Garry Lyon said on MMM "there is always a good reason why you let a player go"

Followed by spud "Yeah him ducking his head and shirking the contest like that must be one"

He is inclined to put in short steps occasionally. He has some good attributes and I thought being delisted was the kick in the bum he needed, but alas it doesn't seem to have, I couldn't see coaches like Neeld or Hardwick being big admirers for very long.

I'd say for pure clearance abilities, Moloney and Cotchin are on par, but Cotchin is a lot classier, a better user of the ball, a better mark, and quicker.

Moloney is grunt, Cotchin is class.

It's like comparing Sam Mitchell and Chris Judd. Both great extractors, but one is a superb finisher.

I must say I disagree on this point .I think he is pretty quick /elusive and he "hates" a goal which makes him a forward .

Did he kick 3 once for us or was I dreaming?

Wrong. Most he's kicked is 2 and it was from the midfield. Will never be a crumbing forward

One relies on Mark Jamar too often and the other hurts teams in the midfield regardless of the rucks and can punish teams when he goes forward.

Cotchin is a mile in front of Moloney.

Is that not what I said?!

Moloney would consistently win more clearances then Cotchin, but he doesn't hurt you like Cotchin does, because he is a pure inside mid, and Cotchin is equally good both inside and outside.

We don't need to degrade Moloney, because he is very good at what he does, and would be in the top 20 or so clearance players in the AFL, but he has serious disposal and foot speed flaws which make him a good player, but not a great player.

Agree. Cotchin is class, Beamer is a bull.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
