Mitch Clark

Are we kidding ourselves here playing Mitch Clark Forward? We potentially have one of the best ruckmen in the comp on our list. Recruit another Power Forward once free acgency arrives & unleash Mitch in his correct position.

Maybe in 2 Years time when our young Forwards have matured some, they may just do that, but for now, he straightens us Up.

Not sure what Mitch Clark has done that would make anyone doubt he isn't exactly what we need up forward. I am sure he could do the job in the ruck also, but I think he has been excellent so far this season considering the minimal amount of inside 50's and the shite delivery of those entries.

Especially the 5 goal effort against West Coast, in a 100 + point hammering. Not to mention had one of the best defenders in the comp in Glass playing on him.

If we were playing half decent, the guy would be a shoe in for the Coleman. I reckon he should stay forward.

I know, maybe not Coleman but the guy was honestly averaging 3 goals a game until his injury match....... best in the comp was only on 10 or 11 and people want to move him to the ruck?

Who will be our KPF? Fitz? Sellar? seriously

Just no!

What is everyone's obsession with moving our players around all the time? Frawley/Garland stay back, Clark stays FF and Jamar can look after rucking duties.

I thought everyone here would have been over the moon with Clark forward. Always with the tinkering..

Hi all. Long time watcher first time poster.

I think Mitch has been doing a great job as a key forward. His first couple of games were a bit scrappy, I think just because he was getting used to being the main focal point in the forward line, but the rounds 3 and 4 showed that he is adjusting well and is going to be a very good player for us moving forward.

Who says Mitch is one of the best ruckmen in the country?? Not Leigh Mathews. He said he was a pinch hitter and a back up ruckman.

Clark was a forward as a junior.

He couldn't fit into Brisbanes forward line with Brown and Bradshaw but he was so good they wanted him out there so they played him in the ruck.

Last year he was played forward only because Brown was injured, he kicked 27 goals when he probably didn't really understand the team leading patterns due to training with the rucks all pre-season.

This year he came to us, and solely worked on being a forward and kicked 10 goals in 4 games, straightened up our whole side and gave us a hard edge in the forward line.

People want to move him???? He had one good year as a ruckman (where he was not better than Jamar in his AA year) then the rest of his career he was a very skilled player who was never really given ownership of a position.

He is a forward!! Always was, it's Brisbane that took him out of his comfort zone not us, the fact he did well is a testament to Mitch as a footballer, not as a ruckman.

Tried to edit No Luck

Look I agree he is playing an interesting role we have sadly lacked since Neitz

I just stumbled on his 2009 Stats & they where remarkable, he was a very dominant force.

Kicks, Handballs , Marks, Hit Outs, tackles he had the whole package going on.

Stumble across Jamar's stats from 2010...

We have a power forward with aggression who is loving the faith we have put in him buy repaying us with a better structure and goals.

Just let it be.

Whats the deal with all these posts about putting other players in the ruck, when its the one position on the ground we have safely covered? worst threads i seen in a long time, worse then my thread comparing our game plan to the game plan in the mighty ducks 3

I may be wrong, I have before, but didn't he say that he didnt want to play ruck, that he preferred to play forward?

Yes.

And he has repeated that so often I wonder whether it was a great selling point for the club to say that 'we have Jamar so don't worry about that.'

Did he specifically saying that he didn't want to play ruck? I can remember him saying that he wanted to focus on playing only one position rather than multiple, but I can't remember him specifying any position in particular.

Outstanding game from big Mitch today. I have been laughing at lethal for years now, ( never to his face though ). Did any body notice how much Malthouse enthused about big Mitch today. i get the feeling that he was having a subtle go at Matthews.

Very impressed and relieved with his efforts against Geelong.

Something I noticed in the WCE game was a serious lack of contested marking, that he even feared contests a bit. In his first 4 games he got a total of 4 contested marks and that's a pretty big worry as a KPF. The goals were coming and keeping most happy but that's what was getting at me.

For the heart he showed in the WB game and to back it up with 6 contested marks against Geelong yesterday is phenomenal (especially that one running with the flight of the ball, that's courage).

Any initial doubts I had have been put to rest.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
