Rohan Bail

Foxtel replayed our game from last season vs Gold Coast this morning. I had completely forgotten how good Bail was early in the year before injury. Great mix of hardness, speed and skill and I think will be well suited to the Neeld game plan. Will be interested to see how he goes.

The new James Mcdonald if you ask me!

Has a similar build and game.Rarely stuffs it up and is consistant with his game.

I too am a great fan of this bloke and see him as similar to Paul Williams from Collingwood/Sydney Swans. Hard as nails, poise, very quick but have to disagree with Hells Gates - his kicking is his downfall, especially at the end of one of his blistering runs. In the intra club he put three out of bounds on the full, and two of these were not under pressure. If he gets his kicking skills improved he will be an invaluable asset.

Other than injury there is nothing to stop this bloke becoming a very good midfielder, has all of the attributes and few weaknesses. need to keep this guy on the park, very important player going forward.

I still don't quite understand his role at the moment. The structure seems to have him start as CHF in the sense of position on the ground. Is he a defensive forward? Or a small crumbing forward? Or has Neeld basically said, there's no room in my team for someone who is just a defensive forward or just a crumbing forward - you'll have to be both? In which case, maybe that's what Bail is doing and doing it pretty well. His tackling against St Kilda was ferocious, although he gave away a couple of frees for hanging on too long and he also kicked two goals.

In short, though, I'm a fan.

Has had a far from inspiring start to 2012 in my opinion. His best game for the year was last week, and even that wasn't too great (I appreciate he isn't on his own there).

I have absolutely no idea what his best position is, as at the moment, I have very little confidence in him being in our best 22.

Has been under-done due to an interrupted start and an injury disrupted 2011and will improve.

has endurance

has speed

has a solid body

has courage

can find the footy

is good overhead

has good skills, have seen this at times in senior footy and Casey when i have watched him, will improve this given he can string some games together, along with his decision making.

Has all the attributes to be a good linking mid.

Has played every game this year, yet averages 12 disposals a game, which is less than Trengove (16) who I think has had an ordinary start to the year also.

I dispute the claims of good skills - I think his disposal this year has been dog ordinary.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ro, but at the moment, he is very lucky that we have no-one at Casey pushing for his spot.

One of our few genuine runners, can play both ends and has a bit of grit. Hope he takes the next step.

The thing that amazed me most from that article is that coming in to this season he'd only played 18 senior games. Feels like he's been around more than that and in my mind I'd always treated him like a 50 gamer, but really in terms of his footy career he's still just an apprentice.

Is it an honour to win the Grogan medal?

Kind of I guess? It's like an achievement award for not playing rugby.

The award ceremony would have been amazing, 7 ex Victorians and 3 confused Queenslanders in attendance.

He looks to be coming along pretty well now he is relatively injury free.

And maybe he will be someone we can thank Dean Bailey for - Mt Gravatt I think was DB's team in QFL.

I am totally blown away by the amount of positive talk regading RB this year. I'm not trying to kick the bloke in the guts, but am I the only one who beleives his form to date has been poor?

I love his attitude, and his running ability, and he's not a bad looking bloke, but what are we judging here, a popularity contest or what we see on the footy field?

I agree with you that his form so far this season has not been as good as we have seen from him in the past. But he has been improving with each game and I think he will continue to do so and become an important player for us.

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
