Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My concern is that he is a bit of a one trick pony .He certainly can take a speccy but that only gives him one possesssion even if it is a memorable one .Has features of Russell Colcott about him and like Russell if he doesnt develop a more of an all round game he will become a one man highlight reel with a short career .

Has the yips, Big Time!!! That's why he handballed into trouble after taking MOY. Just needs to settle a mite... A great pick up. You don't take those one touch grabs week after week if you haven't got something special. The reason he is a keeper of the highest order is his pace and endurance. An inspired draft pick... amongst the gloom

He is becoming the excitement machine that Jurrah was prior to his injuries and "other issues". To me he is a Robbo, plus teamwork.

I could not care what great marks he takes if he continually misses set shots from 25m and has brain fades on landing. The marks are great as is his effort but the goal kicking and decision making needs to seriously improve.

Surely other deserve more scrutiny?

Those that wait for a player to be covered before they handball to him?

Those that handball to a teammate two feet away?

Those that tap the ball to their feet in a rucking contest?

Those that refuse to spread and cover the ball like moths around a light?

Surely?

Nonetheless, this is the Jeremy Howe thread, and it's how I feel about Jeremy Howe at the moment.

Needs to stop kicking off one step, he does such hard work getting the ball and then kicks off one effing step...

He is a talent, a talent that might translate well to the role we all hope Sylvia doing but he needs to get rid of a few lazy things he does.

Great talent though.

I like a lot of what I see from him, but he is frustrating the crap out of me with his set shots of late. He has missed some very simple shots recently, and our rot on Saturday started with the first shot of the game being from him. Given our lack of opportunity, we need to make sure we take every chance we get.

Plenty to like about him, but a long way to go.

Agree with most here but whats strange is that last season his kicking was top notch, it seams to be this year its taken a backwards step. His miss on Sydney meant we were a goal down insteand of a goal up and the game was over (which is an indication of where were at - but thats for another topic)

However take nothing away from him, hasnt even played a full season yet and hes one of the very few reasons to watch the club these days. Already has 5 nominations for mark of the year

Don't forget, Cloke was bagged as an awful kick as little as 18 months ago, and now many on here are clamouring to sign him up for next year.........

I think he is an ok kick at goal but when he takes a grab and immediately whips around and kicks off one step I cringe.

The difference was that Cloke kicked well at training so his poor accuracy was considered psychological.

Is he a poor kick at training as well? I do remember last year him being a pretty good set shot, so it surely must be a confidence thing.

There's a lot to love about Howe and he has stepped it up in pretty much all areas except for goal kicking... which must have gone backwards because it's brutal this year.

It comes across like he is thinking himself out of kicking goals with set shots.

  • 3 weeks later...

Few articles about this kid recently, one about Neeld thinking he can be an elite-mid fielder. Personally I think that he needs to improve his kicking before he can be put on this level

Another one was about the Dees trying to sign him, does anyone have any information on this? How many years or on how much? Any other teams trying to lure him? I hope we get the deal done quick.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
