Thought we should talk some footy.

Just thinking what match ups you would like to see at the intra club Intra-club match this Friday?

If you were Neeld who would you be making stand next to each other? And who would you think would take the chocolates

I really love to see Spud Frawley standing next to big Mitch Clark, with James being able to keep him quiet and run off him to give his usual drive.

What other match ups would you like to see?

I do wonder though what advantage Moloney has/would have over Magner cos of the Jamar relationship and if then that evolves into a defensive magner mindset at the bounce/stopaages ie tagging Moloney cos that's where the balls being directed toward. Be good to see how he reacts, the speed of his reaction and his toughness at the clearances

I guess that assumes Moloney and Jamar are on the same team

I also want to see what Leigh Williams (spelling) can do and against whom he does it (or not)

Morton vs Howe - want to Howe run Morton around, and make Morton accountable as a HBF

Clark vs Sellar - give us a look at Sellar on a key forward

Petterd vs Strauss (if fit) - would like to think that Petterd can take his I50 pressure up a notch, and will teach Strauss to hit targets under pressure

Bail vs Trengove - see what Bail is like shutting down one of the better mids

Bate vs Moloney - make Bate accountable against a quality mid that will be on the end of Jamar's taps

Jones vs Nicholson - both gut-runners, with Nicho looking for a promotion to senior list

Frawley vs Watts - see how much JW has been doing in the gym

Bartram vs Davey - Flash to play forward and Barty tag him

* Tapscott, Magner and Couch are not to go near Grimes

* Jurrah to play after a restricted preseason and kick 4 goals

Against the taller forward lines - Hawks, North, West Coast and Carlton to a certain degree we are short. Makes me think that the coaching staff will be very keen for Sellar 196cm to come on.

I enjoy watching the intra club matches, it is alwasy interesting how the teams line up, last year for example is was our best 18 V the rest, great for working on set ups but you don't get a lot out of it. I would love to see over starting forwards against our starting backs with a balanced midfield, with that in mind and depending on the fitness I would like to see the below line ups

Garland got a rising star nom a few years back playing on buddy. I'd say Garland could take Watts, he has no trouble playing tall.

They played on each other last year in Adelaide and I watched it. Clark ran rings around him and was BOG (admitedly Sellar didn't play on Clark the whole game).

Reckon Sellar might be better suited to smaller grounds as doesn't look that athletic on bigger grounds and could get run around. be interested to see how he goes.

I would like to see Bleese on Bennell. Not sure who would win that one but it should provide some nice dash either of a flank or wing.

I think these two answer each other. It would be a really interesting battle.

Again, I like this, but will Jurrah play?

Some of the midfield battles should be interesting as well. Personally I think put a tag on Trengove, either Bail or Bate for me. It's something he's going to face a lot of this year and he might as well get used to it early.

Jones head to head with Beamer. They can match each other physically, although you'd expect Jones to get more run.

Tom McDonald on Davis, they are roughly the same age and have close to the same experience. Would be interesting to see if Davis could hold him.

I would like to see Davey and Blease playing forward pocket at opposite ends of the ground. Bartram to match Davey and Bennell on Blease. Bartram would expose Davey's great weakness against tight physical pressure, while Davey would not let Bartram have any time to pick his disposals, so would likely show up his weak kicking. Bennell meanwhile has the pace to run with Blease, and the two head to head should provide some real excitement.

So, which way will they go;

Clark vs Frawley or Sellar.

Can see both sides of the arguement, but I think I'd prefer the Sellar option. With Clark, he knows he will draw the best defender most weeks, and they don't come much better than Chip. In the season proper, Clark will have a job to do regardless of who is on him, and I can't really see him not playing every game.

Sellar on the other hand, it will be interesting to see if he has come on in any way since leaving last year. Put him on our biggest forward, as this it going to be a role that if he wants to play senior footy, he will need to do well at. Is he up for it? I'd rather see in a practice game (and NAB Cup for that matter) as opposed to giving him a couple of weeks in the season proper.

But, I'm sure at the end of the game that Clark has played on both lads.

Wish I could go, would be interesting to have a peek. I'll just have to wait until next Saturday night!

Neeld says only Spencer and Gawn wont play at this stage, it'll be 18-a-side with players purely taken from our list - a proper practice match with no Casey top-up players. Great news.

The thing that has been overlooked in this thread is the amount of players seemingly available to play on Friday. If you take away Spencer and Gawn we're in pretty good shape going into the NAB cup from an injury perspective. Touch wood!

I like Sellar, but I think he has to prove himself over Rivers in the NAB cup. I see having Sellar along with Rivers, Frawley and Garland being very tall in the back half. If all 4 are playing well in the NAB cup and we are rebounding the ball well then I'd go with them, but if not Sellar tops the list of first out of the side.

Martin of course will be likely for round 1, but I'd like to see him have a run against Jamar before the NAB cup. I didn't think the red team deserved to have Fitzpatrick as their ruck man.
