QUESTIONS OVER GWS SCULL-DUGGERY

TOM Scully's father was offered a six-year contract worth $680,000 to work as a recruiter for Greater Western Sydney in November last year.

The Daily Telegraph has obtained a copy of a "Letter of Offer" to Phil Scully signed by GWS football boss Graeme "Gubby" Allan on November 10, 2010 - 12 months before the contentious deal was made public.

It reveals Scully Sr was guaranteed a job until October 2017 as the club's Melbourne-based recruiting scout on an annual salary of $100,000, with an increase of 5 per cent every year.

The document raises fresh questions about whether Tom Scully agreed to join the expansion club during an AFL-endorsed signing window in November 2010.

Let's see him talk his way out of this one. " It was the courageous thing to do, you know, shaft a lot of people and tell lies. It's got to do with character and integrity and I want to be a leader."

I so want to be over this [censored] but this just stinks to high heaven.

What a lying [censored]. Sorry Tom, figured I could look at a guy my own age in that position and think that you'd agonise over making the choice, but no, your choice was made over a year ago without even a whimper, then you had the gall to lie to me and every single other Melbourne supporter about it. You jackass.

Need to make sign regarding Phil and consumption of meat pies for GWS game...

6 years hey ! So you'd reckon that T$ was offered 6 years as well back then but ..................didn't GW$ supposedly up there offer from 5 years to 6 years late this year ? I wonder how far this goes back .

Mid 2009 as a guesstimate.

So when did T$ fly back from China - October . The deal done in November or earlier ? I've never believed any of that rubbish about the reasons he flew back - personal reasons - yeah right !

Well if it wasn't already the stench that wont go away for the AFL....

This is the GWS gift to the AFL that keeps on giving.

What an embarrassment...the so called system has been a joke.

Tom I don't blame you. You are a kid following your father.

Phil I do blame you...you know better, you and your family will forever be remembered with this stigma of money hungry liars....

As for GWS....absolutely out of line. Should be sanctioned by the AFL.

My sentiments exactly, he lied through his teeth all year and made fools of a lot of people at Melbourne. Lyon,Schwab and worst of all Jim Stynes were made to look like fools because they kept saying how much integrity $cummy had. The AFL are to blame in all this shyte, its got Demetriou's fingerprints all over it and that disgraceful excuse for a human being Greame Allan who seems to be able to do what he wants. $cumbag was gone this time last year.

I am starting to think 2009 myself even more now. This just gets more murky. Did T$ return from china to seal the deal?

I'm thinking the same - the way this story is leaking there's a chance the whole truth may come out . Deception of the highest order .

Agree WYL we just happened to be the ones picking him. I guess an example if the lengths GWS will go to showed in the under handed way they tried to get Omeara this year.

Still we have Mitch Clarke, Jack Viney and 2 first rounders. We are in front but it's the bitter taste in our mouths from be played like fools.

There is no way that this won't get very personal for Melbourne fans now. Proof that T$ had made up his mind even before the end of his first year at the club. Mods should allow for some leniency in this thread, as no post will get anywhere close to the offensive behaviour towards the MFC of that riff-raff family. The whole family wreaks of corruption (talk about $ullying the family name). Tom for happily being the puppet and b/sing everyone (especially Jim), Jabber the hut (for pressuring and influencing T$), the mum (who would have sat back happily knowing full well what her 2 'men' (anything but) were plotting and the sister (who seems to want to spray the caucasian off of her). Clearly this whole family places possessions and money as the be-all-end-all. Thank f&%k that such people are no longer associated with the MFC.

I'd suggest something along the lines of his waistline being bigger than Scully's contract.

They're all to blame, they all corrupted the system, AFL will do jack, as it would prove that they get things wrong from time-to-time. Don't think the ego's of Demetriou, Anderson and Fitzpatrick could accomodate for that.

good riddance and I hope his knees crash

Would stand and applaud JT if he decided to risk half his season and sling tackle T$ and his knee into the car-park below the MCG turf. Shatter the sh!t out of it.

T$ was a deceptive bugger, i knew that, didn't like it, but moved on. The blatant and apparent contempt he had for my club is downright insulting. Seriously, who the f%$k does he think he is? It just disgusts me. Shits about to get personal come round 13. Build up will be huge, as we have a bye before that game.

Wouldn't suprise me if his knee was just fine thus far. Depends what the GW$ contract stipultated. I doubt we the MFC had much say. We were just the club that sadly opened the door.

He probably could have played more games this year but why risk a 6 million dollar contract hey - makes your blood boil if true - not with us in spirit so why risk the body ( knee )

And what about the utter tripe about the "problems at the Club" that he went on about just a few days back - He was already gone so that's stuff was irrelevent - He's a pathological liar

I still maintain our Club was hoodwinked - if people still think our Club played along with this for this length of time they are kidding themselves .

I'd gladly give up both, if it meant everyone who supports the MFC got 1 free swing at him. Not the face, not the groin, i'd make sure that he'd have knee problems for the rest of his life.

Nah i want a gun player myself. This whole $cully saga was a waste of time. No wonder Vlad refused to mention the word Tanking. He knew what was unfolding.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
