After reading yesterdays press i really do hope it is Cale Morton. The kid does have talent, but lacks all confidence. The perfect project for a new hard edged coach.

At Collingwood, they managed to turn the worst kick in the league into a reliable (although awkward) kick - Ben Johnson.

Therefore I would hope to see the ordinary kicks improve out of sight and even the players where kicking isn't their strength make noticeable improvement.

About half the list will. I think some of the older heads won't though. Guys like Moloney, Jamar, Green. Blokes with work ethics already, or guys like Sylvia who are too far gone just won't learn at the same rate as a young kid. I think someone like Watts will benefit from a Paganesque hardass. Someone has to [censored]-slap him into line.

Jordie will win about 3 Blueys under him though. He'll be our Hayes... and he looks like Neeld's lovechild, to boot.

Hmm. One more. Gys. Smart, but slow footballers. Assuming Neeld comes in and coaches to his midfield's strength (which is NOT pace) then he should break even there at least. With a dynamic forward line and fantastic defence, that'll put us in the top 9 or 10.

IMO Trengove will become an animal in 2012. The new coaching staff will improve his presence on the field immensely. I hope he drags plenty up with him as well.

I think Neeld would really want to have a strong impact on the top 6 to 10 players on our list. Get them moving toward being "stars" or well above average footballers. Its only then will MFC improve. And as these players improve they will make others around them better than what they are.

Too many what Neeld to have phoenix like impacts on fringe players. And he may well but some of those mentioned even if they play at their best will still find them as mid range NQRs.

IMO he was - some will agree, some wont.

If it makes you happier I'll rephrase it - he was a shocking kick.

The point of the post was, he is now a reliable kick and furthermore there are no obvious bad kicks at Collingwood, or Geelong for that matter.

You couldn't say the same for the MFC and I hope Neeld turns said players into serviceable if not reliable kicks.

Looking forward to seeing how Watts, Jones, Sylvia and Morton take to Neeld.

Jones, by all accounts, is in the top 3 fittest people at the club at the moment. He is a competitor, and if Neeld can fine tune his deficiencies he will become a very good footballer.

We saw Watts take his game to a new level in 2011, but he is still far from elite. Interesting seeing that Neeld gave him a kick up the backside the other day, and I'm curious as to what influence this will have on Killa. He is a player who still isn't in his prime, but will Neeld and his assistants be able to make him into a star?

Cale Morton is far and away the most bagged Demon. This is mostly because he has been labelled as 'soft'. I believe that Neeld's no-nonsense approach will either make or break Cale, but with Misson on board he should be able to significantly bulk up, and I think it is likely he will become a very good player for the MFC. He has the tools, he just needs the guidance.

The player I'm going to be watching the most closely this year, though, is Col Sylvia. For too long he has been able to get away with not playing to his ability, not taking professional footy seriously, and being a 'passenger' in most games against top 8 sides. Neeld has shown that he isn't going to take any **** from Col by already suspending him for one game. I think this will be a major wake up call to him, and he will work harder and become a potential Bluey winner in 2012 as a result of Neeld's hard nosed attitude.
